Standard for Forged Hooks 1

I work in the logistics and transportation industry. Does any on know of a standard the governs the hooks that are used on chains. The NACM seems to only have information on chains and nothing on the end hooks. Specifically I am looking to verify what markings need to be on the forged parts.

One of which, "RR-C-271D Federal Specification- Chains and Attachments, Welded and Weldless", does address hooks to some extent:

I still don't see anything about marking of the hooks themselves, though.

In looking at several hook manufacturers' websites, and even some of the OSHA information, I don't see references to any other documents for hooks, so there may simply not be any other standard for them.

9.2 InformationWhere a hook is not an integral part of a lifting appliance, the hook shall be permanently and legibly marked with the following information: (a) Manufacturer’s identification.(b) Quality grade.(c) Working load limit.(d) Identification marking to correlate the hook to the test certificate.

In Europe, EN12195-3 and EN1677-1 and -2 are probably pretty close to what you need.

DOE-STD-1090-2004 has guidelines for testing, labeling, and using all sorts of lifting and rigging gear, including hooks. This DOE standard is largely a compilation of information from other standards, which are acknowledged and referenced. It references ASME B30.10 for Hooks.

That B30.10 sounds like the missing standard that I wasn't seeing. I find on that Crosby page, they mention a couple of their hooks can be certified as individual components per B30.9, Slings, as well. But I find it curious that the manufacturers don't seem to state that their hooks actually meet B10.10 or any other standard.

Thanks for all the information. RR-C-271D seems to have some information. B30 seems to be for hoisting and rigging which is not the intended use for my parts so I'm not sure if it is applicable.
