With the advent of version 8, there really is NO reason to NOT use Microstation. It reads and writes Acad files AND DGNs natively. And the tools are extremely useful.
Acad is a Pinto, time to step up to a MIcrostation CADDilac. ;-)

I'm assuming that your using Microstation/J Version 7.1.
Make sure the Microstation ODBC Component is Installed. You can install it off of the Microstation CD you have. ONLY install the "databases" item in the install utility or it will replace ALL your Microstation files and destroy...
Are you using a database? If so, it looks as if a little Microstation Basic programming might help you out.
There's a bunch of ways to connect to a database in Microstation. What exactly are you trying to acomplish. What are you using for your data? (Spreadsheet, database?)
