    Engineering drawings

I agree with others here that a drawing needs some serious work. A machine shop could not make this part from the dimensions given. When designing a part always keep in mind who is making the part. You may have designed the part and understand the part completely but that is only a small part of...

    deep sea

Exactly how deep are you wanting to send this down? The key word you posted is "NORTH" Atlantic. Please remember that as you go deeper the water temperature gets colder and once you have gone beyond the depth that light can penetrate it gets very cold very fast. I am not sure plastic is the best...

    First Job out of school

Just my opinion here, but have you asked your current employer if they have plans on putting you on the payroll after your internship is finished? If they say no to the question then you are forced to find employment on your own. I don't know if you have any loans to pay back and this can be a...

    Excell vs OpenOffice

For home use I have OpenOffice installed on all my computers. Both my kids are in High School and need presentation which OpenOffice has. The best part of this is the cost. At work when I first started working here every computer had Microsoft Office but since then the IT people decided...

    SHEET METAL

If you have complex bends then I would say show a flat pattern but our stuff is not complicated. Simple 90 degree bends with occasional drilled holes in the bent sides. As for the dimensions. We use a 0,0 ordinate system. with the origin being in the lower left corner of the top view. All holes...

    free cswa & cswp exams

"I got voucher ids the next morning." WOW how did that happen? It has been over a week since I requested my voucher and still no word from SW. What I understand of this process is you get one voucher per seat of SW. So if you only have one seat of SW then you either take the CSWA or the CSWP...

    Certified SolidWorks Tests now Online?

I'm wondering if you fail the test can you retake the test or do you have on shot? I don't believe anyone has touched on this subject. I sent my request to SW for a voucher last week and have not heard anything from them yet. I know it takes several days. I requested both the CSWA and CSWP...

    FULLY DEFINED SKETCHES

With the new feature in 2007 defining a sketch is now very simple. I've used this feature several times when trying to figure out why a sketch isn't defined. It's now a simple mouse click.

    2-D drawing

Have you looked into classes being offered in your area? If there are no classes then follow the tutorials. This will give you the general idea. Good luck Mark

    importing 2d layouts from autocad

Not sure this is the best method, but I use copy/paste. While in AutoCAD I window the selection I want to copy, then in SolidWorks I open a new part and paste. So far this has worked. Like I said I'm not sure this is the best method.
