Advantages of Closed Slot Stamping vs Open Slot Stamping

Hi Guys, Recently i came across an information that some manufacturers of Submersible Motors use Closed slot Stamping design in Higher kW ranges over the conventional Open slot stampings. The disadvantage of a closed slot stamping will be the delay in production as it may take upto couple of...

250HP Induction Motor - Greater Phase to Phase current Imbalance

Hi, MARKE - The measurements were made during the intial startup of the system after completing installation, when obsereved this imbalance the same has been shutdown. We are planning to pullout the pumpset next week. The resistance is good & uniform in all 3 phases. The polarity is also ok...

250HP Induction Motor - Greater Phase to Phase current Imbalance

The Rated Full Load Current of motor is 436A. The motor was running at 60Hz when these current was measured. When reduced to 54Hz the measurments were 220A/360A/420A. The cables have been verified for continuty to avoid misconnection of the leads. Normally in Submersible pump installtion no...

250HP Induction Motor - Greater Phase to Phase current Imbalance

The values 376A / 436A / 540A are measured by a hand held Clamp Meter. The VFD displays only average current as 450A. When the overload protection is enabled in VFD the protection switches off the pump displaying "Imbalance Current Protection". The extension cable is a 185 Sq.mm single lead...

250HP Induction Motor - Greater Phase to Phase current Imbalance

Hi Folks, Hope someone can help me on the below issue, We have installed a 250HP, 380V, 60Hz Submersible pumset at 340m deep in a Borewell . The motor is a 6 lead motor & all the 6 leads were taken out of the well & connected in DELTA as a 3 wire motor before conencting to the VFD. After...

    Auto_transformer rating

Thanks Waross, Actually i was asking if the formula KVA(Auto) = (1 - (Vin/Vout))* KVA of the load, is same for 1Ph & 3Ph.

    Auto_transformer rating

Podobing oh ya there was a blunder mistake in my kva calculation. For calculating the kva of a 3Ph motor the formula is = (1.73*I*V)/1000 = (1.73*45*380)/1000 = 29.6kva. Based on the same calculation if i to need step-up the Voltage for 460V instead of 380V, then the Auto-transformer rating...

    Auto_transformer rating

Waross, The motor is 220/380V dual voltage motor. The idea of running the motor in 380V is to reduce the cost in Power cable & control panel components. The pump set is for deep well application hence there is space restriction in using a bigger diameter cable. The control panel will be...

    Auto_transformer rating

Thanks Guys, Podobing as per the formula if i work out the Auto-transformer rating for this 30HP motor, the working will be as follows (( 1- (220/380))* (22kw*0.83PF) = (1-0.58)*18.26KVA = 7.67kVA. The auto transformer can be a minimum of 10KVA rating with safety margin. To...

Electrical Motors - for use in India

Please read the 60Hz voltage as 460V, 60Hz In case of industrial application a 400-415V,50Hz (460V,60Hz) motor will solve the issue. If your equipments motors are for agricultural/similar field application then really you are gonna have a tough time ahead because, energy distribution for...

Electrical Motors - for use in India

1 Phase voltage in India is 230V 50Hz & 3 Phase varies from 380V to 440V, 50Hz depending upon the application & field conditions. In case of industrial application a 415V,50Hz (380V,60Hz) motor will solve the issue. If your equipments motors are for agricultural/similar field application then...

    Auto_transformer rating

Hi Guys, I would like to to know if the calculation for dimensioning a 3 Phase Auto-transformer is same as that of a power transformer ie (Volts x Amps X 1.73)/1000 ? i am thinking of installing a 30HP,380V pump set in 220V,3Phase,AC power supply by employing a step-up auto-transformer, so...

    Advantages of 12 lead 460V,60Hz WYE-DELTA Motor over 6 lead 460V motor

It's not a dual voltage 230V-460V motor. It's a metric rated motor for 460V 60Hz & 380V 50Hz. Its run's in Delta+Delta connection. As Jraef assumed it's should be applicable for part winding start.

    Advantages of 12 lead 460V,60Hz WYE-DELTA Motor over 6 lead 460V motor

What is the advantage of having a 12 lead 460V,60Hz WYE-DELTA Motor over 6 lead 460V WYE-DELTA motor ? The motor is for deepwell application & mechanical type reduced voltage starter is used in both the cases.

Submersible Pumpset Thrust Bearing Vs Check Vave

as per the manual bearings are Kingsbury Type water lubricated & the worn out or broken part is the Graphite part & not SS segments. The pump is operated using a auto-transformer starter & starts with 65% of its nominal voltage then 80% & then gets its 100% voltage. The interval between each...

Submersible Pumpset Thrust Bearing Vs Check Vave

Mr.CH50H Since the pump capacity is more than the borewell yield the pump was always operated with a 20% closed discharge valve. thanks for your attention

Submersible Pumpset Thrust Bearing Vs Check Vave

Thanks Mr.Martin You comment on kinetic response has something to do with Newtons Third law. The manual only recommends the installation of intermediate valve but didn't mention anything about void of warranty. The supplier also agreed to repair the pump free of cost.

Submersible Pumpset Thrust Bearing Vs Check Vave

We have a 60HP, 440V, 60Hz Submersible Pumpset installed in a borewell at 210m depth. The delivery pipe is of 6" diameter & after 15 days of operation the current of the pumping unit surged to 156A from its 95A. After dismantling the motor we found that the thrust bearing of the motor is...
