unclesyd / BobUXL / mcguire,
Very sorry for responding after a very long gap in this thread.
Let me put my requirement in simpler words :-
I need to use SS316L and also SS316 diaphragms in one of the pressure measurement applications. The thickness of the diaphragms would vary from 0.1mm to...
Hi,
I need to know the formula for calculating deflection of corrugated (concentrically) diaphragms under application of pressure. If I am not mistaken, this formula is obtained by modifying the deflection formula for flat diaphragms, wherein the effect of corrugation is taken care by...
unclesyd,
Do we need to worry about IGC while the diaphragms are being heated to 1200°F or so. Also do we need to have inert atmosphere while performing the stress relieving?
unclesyd / BobUXL,
Thanks for your reply.
unclehyd,
I need to use the said diaphragms for very sensitive pressure measurment application. Hence would like to ensure that all the residual stresses after cold working are effectively removed.

Hi,
I need to know the bursting pressure of both laminated glass (100mmOD,3mm thk) and Toughened glass (100mmOD,3mm thk).
Do I need to do the test myself and find out or would this information be available with glass manufacturers / reference books etc.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I need following info on the bourdon tube manufacturing :
What kind of heat treatment should be given after tube bending, if the materials are as follows :
(I) SS316
(II)CuSn8 (Werkstoff-Nr. 2.1030 DIN 17662)
(III)CuZn15 (Werkstoff-Nr. 2.0240)
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I am looking for a good book or website where technical information on pressure gauges like types, materials, design criteria etc would be available.
Could anyone help me out on this please.
thanks in advance.

Hi,
I need to use the JIS flanges in materials equivalent to ASTM A182F316L/ASTM A351 CF3M and ASTM A182 F316 / ASTM A351 CF8M. Hence would like to know the following :-
(1) Relevant JIS standard for pressure temperature ratings
(2) Relavant JIS standard for material details (for stainless...
TVP / Mcguire,
Thanks for your reply. Would you please let me know if Chemical Compatibility charts for different materials are available on internet.
Thanks in advance.

Hello,
Does anybody know if following materials are chemically compatible with Hexene CH3(CH2)3CH=CH2 in the temperature range of 40°C to 200°C.
(1) Titanium (ASTM B348 gr 2)
(2) ASTM A351 gr CF3M
(3) Inconel 718 rings(with nickel coating)
I have not been able to get this medium in chemical...
TVP / Mcguire,
I need to know the applicable international standards ASTM / EN for procurement of Hastelloy C-276 spring wires.I would like the spring suppliers to deliver the wires with other general specs as per this standard.
I understand that standard ASTM B471 was applicable to nickel...
butelja / TVP / Mcguire,
Thank you for your advice. I would like to have more information on the following :-
(1) 'Spring temper' process applicable to C-276.
(2) Permanent set of Hastelloy C276 springs (Please note that the operating temperature in this case is 250 degC continuous)...

Hi,
We are facing failure problems of a springs made up of SS316L material ( 1.0 mm wire diamter, 6.3mm outer diamter, 9.5mm length)which are used in our special pipe fittings. The spring is exposed to the fluid and supposed to work in 'compressed condition'. It is clear from our observations...
Hi,
I am planning to use a ceramic component (Alumina 99.7%) for one of my projects. I need to test the following of the same :-
(1) Composition :- Though the supplier claims that the alumina content is 99.7%, I would like to know the best method to test the same.
(2) Hardness (Wear...
Gunnar,
Unfortunately the information on 'dissolved oxygen content' is not available from the customer. Could you please elaborate on ' radioactive scale' as mentioned by you. I also request you to explain your detailed views on the on the PRNs please.

rpm8,
In order to specify the pipe fittings as per ASME B16.9, you need to know the following (atleast)
- Material of construction ( ASTM or equivalent grade)
- nominal size NB
- schedule
If I understand your problem correctly, you do not know the schedule of the pipe fittings. In that case...
Mcguire,
Thanks a lot for your response.
I fully understand that selection of the material and its chemical compatibility with medium is an 'involved' and 'complex' task. I do appreciate your point of view that recommending materials without having first hand and complete iinformtaion on the...
