Hello,

Does anybody know if following materials are chemically compatible with Hexene CH3(CH2)3CH=CH2 in the temperature range of 40°C to 200°C.

(1) Titanium (ASTM B348 gr 2)
(2) ASTM A351 gr CF3M
(3) Inconel 718 rings(with nickel coating)

I have not been able to get this medium in chemical compatibility charts.

Thank you,

Pras

Most metals are compatible with simple alkanes and alkenes, including titanium and nickel. I would imagine iron-based alloys would be as well, but I'll let someone more expert than me (are you out there mcguire?) confirm that.

TVP is correct. Each of these alloys is completely safe from corrosion in hexene at these temperatures. You get your mileage out of Eng-tips.com, Pras. Glad to help.

TVP / Mcguire,

Thanks for your reply. Would you please let me know if Chemical Compatibility charts for different materials are available on internet.

Thanks in advance.

I assume you want a free site. The best I have found is the web site, Avesta-Polarit.com.
