    That must be it... thanx!

    A3A.... what does it mean?

I have recently seen some drawings of pressure equipment which do not state a design code, but do state "category/module: A3A". Does anyone know what this means?? It is a complete mystery to me.

    Pressure vessel with large lid

thanks for all your ideas. The project leader just informed me he wants the standard flange with an O-ring. Other solutions are just too expensive and time consuming for now. My question: does the PED (or ASME) prescribe anything about the use of an O-ring?

    Pressure vessel with large lid

yep, but they are hinged and therefore we can't install a long tube in the lid that sticks into the vessel. I think it is a bridge too far for us to design and fabricate one ourselves. I must tell you b.t.w. that my knowledge of the codes (PED in this case) is limited. The idea of using a...

    Pressure vessel with large lid

Okay, I have done some research and I can't find any practical solutions for us. I am now thinking of using a standard asme flange and put an O-ring groove on the raised face. Is this allowed?

    Pressure vessel with large lid

Yep, I found some, but what I forgot to mention is that a small, long tube will be inserted through the lid. Therefore it can't be a hinged closure. Any ideas?

    Pressure vessel with large lid

We have to design a small pressure vessel (-10°C - 30°C, 50bar) based on a 4" pipe. The client wants to be able to take of the lid numerous times. He thought it would be nice to do this by welding a welding neck flange on top and close it with a blind flange. Well, I learned that you should...

    bend allowance standard setting

I can't seem to create a template like you mention in SW2010, so that's not an option. If I had a template like you have, can you change settings and resave it in a later version without loosing the sheetmetal future?? If so, I am interested in your template :) The number of parts that I...

    bend allowance standard setting

Thanx gopack, I'll give the bend tables a try. I am still scared that I created other parts that may have this mistake in it too, so a robust method would be nice... :) The template thingy you mention is something I will not try since we will probably move to a newer release of SW in the near...

    bend allowance standard setting

Hi Cor, I shot and sent PDF's and DWG's, which indeed have flat patterns based on a bend deduction of zero. I investigated the original SW part files and discovered that all bend allowances were set to 'bend deduction'; a setting that I never use, I always use a k-factor. It must be something...

    Graphic card choice

If the card doesn't perform as hoped for, why not buy a low-budget quadro and plug it next to the 670. I run a config with a gtx560 and a quadro 600 at home without any problems. You can even connect both cards to one screen, although two screens is easier to work with.

    bend allowance standard setting

Something weird happened here... When we make sheetmetal parts, SW(2010) always applies a k-factor for the bend allowance. Today I got a call that none of my flat pattern are correct for a certain project. I did some investigation and found out that in all the sheetmetal parts a bend deduction...

    Solidwork modelling and simulation

I think you should have posted this in : Solidworks: Simulation/FEA(COSMOS) but what the heck... I can't open ur file unfortunately because I still use SW2010, but I think I understand the problem. You will need to make a glue-part that connects the round cavity part with the square part...

Transparent parts in assembly drawing - Best Practice

Thnx Cor, Is it possible to set only the frame to 'shaded with edges' and leave all other components in wireframe? An alternate pos. method means you can't make cutouts, but that's about it I think when it comes to drawbacks. I was wondering if there is a more straightforward method available...

Transparent parts in assembly drawing - Best Practice

Here's my problem: I have a motherload of piping situated inside a frame. When I make a drawing I want the frame to be shown with dashed lines and I want it to be transparent so I can see all piping components, even when they are hidden behind beams. What is the best way to achieve this?

overlay SW part on dwg machine drawing

My approach would be to make a drawing with the needed views, save it as a DWG and import/integrate the views into the DWG of your customer. The result will be easier to acquire in my opinion. Probably there are some tricks to have better control of your SW drawing, but I think autocad/dwgviewer...

    Solidworks tolerances.

huh? did you set trailing zeros to 'show'? or do you maybe mean an annotation that doesnt show its zeros? There is a setting for that too... otherwise, im confused too.
