I use 2205 in an application of pump shafts on 1000-1500 HP engines with great success.

Thanks to all for your ideas, but I need the actual specs right down to the .001" This is a 50 years old engine, butI have found that I can get the specs at a place in Michigan. They have the orginial drawings and blueprints that I was looking for. So this one is solved. Thanks Tom
Thanks Idano, I tired that number but it's disconnected. Also a Lincoln engine had a different bellhosuing pattern than a Ford y block . A 317,341,368 Lincoln engine have the same pattern and the heavy duty big truck engine 279/317 and 302HD/332HD truck engines share the same bolt pattern. With...
Can anyone out there tell me where I can get the dimensions for the bellhousing bolt pattern on Lincoln 368 engine block. I have to make a plate to fix a modern bellhousing and have no source for info. I need. Thanks Tom
Besure to check the treads with a thread gauge, as there is a 3/4"-10 taps out there also. I would think that it is really a 11/16"-11 or a 3/4"-10 not to say they don't but most auto companys in that time period just standard type threads for ease of avaiablity and cheap tooling...
OK, You caught me. No it's not a engineering question, but I really need to find a place to purchase these bolts. Sounded easy to me but I still have'nt found them yet. Thanks Tom
I finally aquired a copy of SolidWorks 2001, Now I need to know which book or manuels would be the most helpful in learning SW . I hate to buy the wrong one and need your help. Thanks Tom
Well that's interesting to know there is a alloy K01, I did'nt know about. I'll have to look that one up, is it similar to A201 ? I know 201 has silver in it. My problem is I have a part that was cast from Ductile cast iron. Trying to remake in a non ferrous lite weight alloy, problem is it was...
I think the Mg has been ruled out in favor of A206. With the strength of A206 Higher than that of the Fe D4018. I may just try molding a few parts with the current patterns and see what happens. Bean counter wants less weight with out a total retooling. After looking at the part and the...
Thank you both, I was able to get the mechanical properties of this material from www.matweb once I found out what type was used. Now I have my baseline to search for a suitable non ferrous alloy to replace it with. I would like possibly to substitute it with a Magnesium Alloy but I think part...
Hello, I have a project I'm working on, and need you input. The current part I have is made from cast Ductile Iron grade D4018. I need to make this part weigh less. I have considered using a Magnesium Alloy. I have looked at several alloys and like the mechanical properties of ZC71-T6 Magnesium...
Need to know what grade of CAST IRON is used in Rear Wheel Drive rear end housings and there center sections(removable types) ? trying to to get a base line to compare Mechanical Properties of these components with Non Ferrous Alloys. Thanks Tom
