You could also measure form axes to axes if you have them turned on.
To turn them on go to the view menu and select Temporary Axes

I have electrical and fluid power symbol libraries that I have ammassed.
However, they are about 8 meg each so they may be difficult to email. Perhaps someone out there has a website they could be uploaded to?

You may want to look at Rhino @ http://rhino3d.com . It is very good at importing surfaces and interfaces well with SW.
Price is $895 but if you have hundreds of files it may be worth it. They have a trial version that allows 30 saves if you want to check it out.

At first I was going to say it would depend on the position you are applying for. However, after reflecting upon this, I don't think it will matter what the position is. You may not be taken seriously and it could be a hazard in the field. Baseball caps are very unprofessional for most...
Sorry, but that's pretty scary. How can you be an inspector if you don't know what the symbols mean? GD&T is highly complex and many people that think they understand it, DO NOT.
I am not trying to be mean, but if you intend to succeed in this job, I would suggest getting some schooling.

I say take the job and start school part time. If in a year this seems like the wrong decision you can quit the job and focus on your studies.
JBEL, I hope you don't take this as an insult but I think you need to re-prioritize. Your family is more important than whatever that overtime will buy...
I am a solidworks and SDRC user and haven't used SE or Inventor, so I can't say which is better. However, I do have to point out that some of the statements made about SW Annotations and Notes are just plain False.
Maybe it is just the lack of training in the respective systems. If you have...
What version of SW are you using? I am using SW 2001 with WIN XP Pro. It can be a bit unstable sometimes, but other times it's rock solid (moody OS?). Overall I prefer WIN XP over WIN 2000, due to it's multimedia capabilities. If you are running a newer version of SW go with XP Pro, otherwise go...
SW is much more intuitve than Pro/E. However, SW is not as powerful of a program for surfacing. If you have experienced Pro users they should have no problems with SW.
You may want to just state your intent in a note if possible. GD&T is not simple to understand and if you don't have a firm grasp, it is very easy to apply incorrectly.
I do this by saving the first sheet as a current template.
What I mean by this is that I edit my first sheet to how I would like it, then go to File/Save sheet format and save it as something like Current_Dsize in the Template file.
Then use this template for your additional sheets and edit...
If the weldment is created as a single piece, you could create multiple configurations in which you cut away everything but the desired part.
