We are in the process of planning our upgrade tfrom SW2003 to SW2004. Does anyone know of a way to convert an existing part created in SW2003 to a Weldment so that we can create a cut list for it?
Thanks,
Janet

jwalz,

I do not see what converting from SW2003 to SW2004 has to do with converting weldments.

Did somebody model a weldment as one piece?

If the weldment is created as a single piece, you could create multiple configurations in which you cut away everything but the desired part.

I cannot think of any way to convert a previously modeled weldment into the weldment environment of SW2004, other than very manual procedures. One thing that might help if you used toolbox items to create a weldment assembly in SW2003 is to use the Save As-Part, from the assembly. This will create a multi body part from which you can create your new weldment design layout.

Sorry, I wish that I could think of an easier procedure.

Try using the Split Feature. It will split the solid into multiple solids within the part document like the weldments are.

Even with multiple solid bodies you will still not be able to take advantage of things like cut lists.
