    NX5 Flow Question

Hi Larry, We would be only looking for a compression CFD, no combustion. The application would be forced induction (Turbo/Supercharger) flow on an engine. We have looked into other CDF programs as well, but I was hoping to use NX5 Flow or Advanced Flow if it is possible to accurately...

    NX5 Flow Question

Does anyone use NX Flow or usually another application?

    NX5 Flow Question

We are looking at CFD for compressed air flow. Is the regular NX Flow capable of doing compressed air flow or is the Advanced Flow needed? Thanks

    Mating Gears

Hi John, one more quick question on the GRIP program. This is my first time using this GRIP program. I have gone NX open grip, but am not sure how I am supose to get the program to actually run in NX4. Any help would be great. Thanks again!

    Mating Gears

    Got it, thanks!!

    Mating Gears

Hi, I still can't get this to work out. Right now, I have both gears as parts in a final assembly. There center lines are aligned to a common datum plane and there faces are aligned. The distance between there center lines is also constrained. I can not seem to figure out how to get them to...

    Mating Gears

John, thanks for the input. My gears are actually 3 to 1 ratio, and I can get them to rotate in that manner, but only in the same direction. I can't get them to rotate in opposite directions as a real gear would. Any suggestions? Thanks!

    Mating Gears

Hi, I am having a problem mating gears. I am trying to figure out how to do this with only mating and expressiosn if at all possible. Right now I have my 2 gears assembled and rotating around there center axis. I am using an expression to link the to and have them rotating in the same...

    Constraining a Spline

    Thanks!!!

    Constraining a Spline

Is there a "good/easy" way to constrain a spline in a sketch? Right now I have a dimension going both vertically and horizontally to every control point with a formula for a percentage so when the OD of the hole grows and shrinks the entire spline grows and shrinks that same percentage. Is...

Can't divide by expression inside scetch

Velto, The reason I can't use p178=p46*0.99 is because I am reverse engineering something. So my initial value of p46=4.114 I am then going to change p46 so p46 in the end might be 5 If I use p178=p46*99 for p46=5 my answer would be 4.95, but my value should be 1.203 using...

Can't divide by expression inside scetch

So I have this wonderfull scetch and I am trying to use a percentage of the OD to keep the distance the same when I change the OD. My OD expression is p46=4.114 What I would like to do is p178=(4.114/p46)*.99 Why when I try to do this it gives me an error that says "Dimension error" "The...

Reference Excel in NX4 for drawing templates

Hi, is there anyway to reference excel in the drawing templates for NX4. The ideal scenario would have an excel spreadsheet where data is entered into an then that is automatically put into the drawing template in specific predetermined locations. To give some background, the reason I ask is...

    Rotating while extruding "twist/screw"

I got it, as its simple to add a negative sign. Lack of thinking on my part. Thanks again and have a great week. Brian

    Rotating while extruding "twist/screw"

John, I do have an additional question. I got it to rotate and am playing with all the preferences, but can't get it to rotate the opposite direction. Any help would be great. Thanks! Brian

    Rotating while extruding "twist/screw"

John, Thank you very much for the fast help. Your explanation was exactly what I was looking for. I never experimented with the different law functions before and that did the trick. Have a great week! Brian
