    Simple square wave function generator?

LM566, VCO IC. Not sure of the frequency range: http://www.ee.ctu.edu.tw/material/data%20sheet/566.pdf

    Quadrature squarewave generator

You may get perfect pulses of up to 200kHz with a PIC 10F200, SMD (SOT-23) pkg.

    Electric fence line monitor

Hi all, I'm designing a fence charger with line monitor, and it should monitor the line at all times, no matter if the fence is armed (HV pulses) or not. I've read about some systems injecting control signals between HV pulses, through isolation transformers, though line impedance and noise...

Software package to plot SMPS Bode plots

Once your s/w let you split complex numbers into Real/Imaginary part, the rest is just some algebra and you're done. Regards,

    HV xformer for fence energizer

I'm taking your advice. We've tried both ways: the default inquiry email with endless parameters, and then shipping a sample. I wrote to 'Company A' and their quote was very costly (NRE charges, etc.) and long lead times; I guess that's the polite way to say 'No, thanks'. Then we shipped a...

Embedded CPU power supply ESD filter

I'd consider using TVS diodes and short, thick GND wires between boards. Cheers,

    Current Activated Buzzer Circuit Advise

A tone decoder like LM567 might help, tuned to the switching frequency. They have high gain and open-collector output, so you can couple the voltage through a small cap. http://www.nteinc.com/specs/800to899/pdf/nte832.pdf Cheers, G

    HV xformer for fence energizer

Here's another pic. The one at the right has 4 wires, 2 of them for a fence line monitor. Output screws are on the back side. Hope it helps.http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=b2f8702f-733f-4dcf-b63c-237169529eb1&file=Trafo3.jpg

    HV xformer for fence energizer

Sorry for the late reply. Here are some pics of the transformer. It's been incredibly hard to find a partner to build it. Tried with fence charger manufacturers, sales reps. of pulse ignition coils for diesel engines, etc., none of them heard about these parts. Some measurements: Voltage...

    24-Bit & 32-Bit ADC input filter

What's behind your ADC? a processor that you can program? If true, it's a lot easier to let the ADC 'eat dust' and code a filter in firmware. A digital FIR filter with a few coeffs. does just fine even in 8-bit processors, with no need of hand-tuning a lot of coils and caps. Unless you system...

    HV xformer for fence energizer

Got these fence transformers from an Australian and South American fence chargers. Both have similar designs, so I suspect both were built in Asia, or at least near Australia. Both transformers are cast in epoxy resin inside a plastic enclosure. The outer winding (thin wire) is divided in 8...

    HV xformer for fence energizer

Thanks for the diagrams. Didn't know it was that simple. Ignition xformers are a little expensive for production runs, but it's a good idea for prototypes and Lab testing. Thanks!

    HV xformer for fence energizer

Sounds good. Some ignition transformers would match these specs, though I've never knew of one of those put to a fence energizer. Not sure if those comply with safety regulations

    HV xformer for fence energizer

Hi all, I'm confused because most transformer manufacturers I've found, ask for standard parameters hard to find from this application. As many of you already know, most fence energizers shunt a charged capacitor to ground through the transformer primary and a switch. The secondary must...

    HV xformer for fence energizer

Hi all, I'm looking for High Voltage transformer suppliers for fence energizers. I mean the standard step-up transformer whose secondary wires are connected to the fence and earth. This is close to what I'm looking for: www.mulehollow.com/retr.html Thanks in advance for any help!

    HV Capacitor for fence ctrl.

itsmoked: Thanks for the links and price references. We were hired as OEM manufacturers by a local supplier, so we can't bypass the design part. Now I see why our target cost is around $40 (x 1000 pcs) Operahouse: Local regulations here allow us using some 7KV, 2J pulses shorter than 1ms and...

    HV Capacitor for fence ctrl.

Thanks itsmoked. I understand the point is using low voltage (and easier to find) parts in all the circuit but the HV coil, leaving the big voltage 'jump' between primary and secondary windings. Some of our customers would like to check if the gardener cut the lines, without harming him. Is...

    HV Capacitor for fence ctrl.

Thanks for the lead. Looks like it's all about a trade-off between the cap and HV coil ratings. Is correct to say lower voltage means higher capacitance, to keep the same pulse energy (roughly 1/2CV^2)? Thanks.
