Good morning pmover and SnTMan,
Some background here: there is an end user in the oil and gas industry here in Canada who is requiring these and we have to get them approved through the Canadian Jurisdiction.
So, as to the "why" of the additional tap: I really don't know whether it could be...
Good afternoon all,
Anybody know what calculations can be used to verify the addition of a pressure tap to a B16.36 orifice flange? We need to take a series of standard B16.36 flanges and add one more pressure tap but need to be able to determine the effect (if any) on the Pressure-Temperature...
Good morning All, Just a quick update:
Just found that Nitronic 60 is permitted in ASME VIII-1 when purchased as a bolting material conforming to SA-193 B8S. This is listed in Table UHA-23 and also in IID. The MTR from the supplier lists both SA-479 and SA-193 B8S. The A479 version is annealed-only.
Hello XL83NL and EdStainless, thanks for following up. I was trying to find the CC1817, noticed that it wasn't still current, and expected to be able to find an old version of it, so that I could read the text. However, my searches haven't come up with anything. If you happen to know where I can...
Hello metengr,
Ok thanks for responding. I started looking for Code Cases and found a reference to "Code Case 1817" in reference to this material, so perhaps that has the answer.
Hello,
Does anybody know why SA-479 S21800 (Nitronic 60) is "Not Permitted" for use in ASME VIII-1, per ASME IID Table 1A? It is permitted for Section III, but "NP" for Section I and XII. I need it for its anti-galling properties as part of the pressure boundary in an ASME B31.3 application. I...
Hello Metengr,
Thanks so much for jumping in. Your comment and reference to ASM handbook, Volume 1 was very helpful. I purchased the Ductile Iron segment (pages 33-55), and found both the quote that you referenced and also a figure that plots test data for Yield and Tensile going up to 1000 F...
Good evening all,
For ASTM A395 60-40-18, I need the Yield and Tensile properties at elevated temperatures, up to 450F. From ASME B31.3 Table A-1, you can back-calculate what the minimum Yield and Tensile might be, but I need to find a more precise number.
Anybody know where I can purchase a...
Does anyone have suggestions on good software that will run shell, connections, etc.. calculations per the B31.3 rules? I am seriously considering Compress for Vessel calculations per ASME VIII-1 & VIII-2, but also need to consider piping and piping components.
Thanks,
