This is an intermittent problem and I am not sure if I reproduce all issues. see attached example. Last feature giving problems.http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=2424d817-b3c2-43dc-8c3b-ed54d466c587&file=constraints_error.par

    feature constraint problems

Using SE ST and I am having problems with feature sketches failing. Seems to be happening all the time now and I cant figure out why. Problem is when I go to edit feature I am finding sketch and dimensions changed brown and cant be edited. Must be re-drawn or re defined. Even this doesn't work...

Switch windows to another open model

Using SE ST100 for a while now. When i have to switch between active models that are open I must use View / Switch windows and then back to Home. I am finding this quite tedious and irritating considering previous SE and every other windows based application has Windows menu always available...

Locking a vertically sliding tube in place

Screw jacks are traditional method of mechanical outrigger. Depends on the risk level but I wouldn't trust any locking mechanism that wasn't fail safe.

    minimum rpm

I'm afraid you have not explained the problem clearly. What is the application? What are you trying to achieve?

    Motor Sizing and Power Requirements

Some useful information in Lenze.com catalog if you download it. Other drives suppliers like sdp-si.com or misumi have good engineering guides.

    Dealing with fabrication shops

Fabricators generally won't give breakdown of their costing. It is considered their business, not for outsiders. If you could try to discuss with them methods of making cost saving you might get somewhere. If you have no luck go somewhere else. Nothing like competition to get attention

"Off the shelf" low pressure piston

Low friction pneumatic cylinders might do. http://www.airpot.com/ SMC also do a low friction cylinder range which dosn't use physical seals but relies on air leakage to keep piston moving.

    Ball screw

The Uhing product can be pneumatically actuated. Not sure if there is a purely electrical version. Probably need a good deal of force. Rohlix has a lighter duty version with manual quick disconnect. You could re-engineer using an electro-magnet...

Publish models for download in range of formats

I wish to publish on the web a set of 3D models where a used can download in any format they wish, within reason. I have no idea what system end user will have and what they will be used for, CAD or STL etc. Is this possible? Anybody know of a third party who can provide this service? Thanks

    Ball screw

Don't think that can be done with ballscrew. Uhing have linear drive that can be engaged or disengaged and allowed to move freely. http://www.uhing.com/index.php?sp=en&id=503

    Noise measurement of equipment.

I am still working on this problem. It has been decided to look at noise levels of components individually. This means measuring even smaller noise levels. I do not need to work to a specific standard. I just need to judge if I am reducing acoustic noise level and comparing performance with...

Calorific testing of electro. mechanical device

Could anybody recommend a device or system to measure amount of heat energy given off or absorbed by a machine which usually runs under normal room conditions. This device would precisely measure small amount heat (mJ.) given off or absorbed by electro-mechanical device running in air, gas or...
