Just wondering if anyone here has advanced a CDI unit. I was thinking of mapping the peak cylinder pressure against crank angle for a race engine I am developing and then tweaking the ignition timing so that I am achieving peak pressure at the optimum angle for a particular RPM range. I was...
Thanks a lot guys - I'm still rebuilding the bike at the minute but I'll try that and see how it goes. I'll let you know how I get on. Like you said Rob, I can also remove the 'plug'.
Cheers,
Dave.
PS: thanks for the pipe dimensions Michael!
Hi Michael, so should I get rid of the link pipes then? Could you give me the exact dimensions for the primaries & seconadries? Sounds interesting! Are you using the same secondary collector then?
Cheers,
Dave
Cheers Tmoose, yeah, that's pretty much the gist I got from some lit. I found on the web. i was thinking of splitting the pipe and blocking it to see if I found any difference.
MB, I think you're right, they're best left alone - the documentation I found was pretty basic but explained the...
Thundair, thanks, I've been keeping an eye on that forum. Cheers.
Mike, if you had read by post properly you would see that I am financially restricted to the amount of development I can do on the engine. My question was about link pipes, not whether the bike will be competitive...
Hi, just wondering if anyone has any opinion or info on this... I am currently building a race bike and due to limited budget I am going to be using the stock exhaust system. Firing order is 1-2-4-3 and the downpipes are linked 1 to 4, and 2 to 3. The collector is a 4-2-1. The cam profiles...
That's great lads, cheers.
EHudson, no, the small holes are just porosity in the head - from the manufacturing process I'd imagine. Do you not think they are worth repairing? It's a race engine and I am concerned that tiny 'pockets' like that in the cylinder head would be a source of...
Hi all, just a quick question about building up areas of the intake runners etc...
I was just wondering if anyone could recommend a particular type/brand of epoxy or another suitable substance. I know a lot of engine builders use epoxy for this but I don't know which type and I'm reluctant to...
Thanks guys - actually found it at the start of the manual... what an idiot I am! ;)
MB, just prepping a racebike for next year but intend sticking with standard cams for the time being.
D.
Hi all, hope someone can help here. Have scoured the net for this info but to no avail :(
I'm look for cam lifts, durations & opening times for a ZXR400-H. An older thread by MBurgess yielded the lifts & durations (thanks!) but just wondering if anyone (Mburgess ;) ) knows when they open...
Hi Roseda,
I would imagine it has something to do with the disproportionate increase in the thread pitch with the diameter of the screw/bolt.
For tightly toleranced holes the hole clearance will increase (to a point) with the diameter of the pin/locating feature for ease of assembly.
Thanks IRStuff - now I understand - a notch filter is essentially a band stop filter right ??
Another thing I noticed on the system is that whoever set it up originally has grounded the digital ground (from the camera) directly to the analog ground. Couldn't this cause problems ?? Shouldn't I...
Thanks lads....
At the moment I am using vibration damping but it still doesn't absorb all the vibration from the head during scanning, at least not at the resolution that I'm hoping to work from. That is a good point though to try and keep the scanning in the middle of the table to cut out the...
Abeltio/IRstuff,
thanks for the response. Ok, I will always have some degree of background noise, but at the moment it corresponds to an output below that of the lasers resolution which is fine. I do agree though that a reference surface would help somewhat and it is my intention to calibrate...
Hi All,
hopefully someone will have experience of something like this !! - I am using a micro epsilon laser/camera displacement sensor to measure surface defects. The laser is accurate down to .25um so picks up quite a lot of the vibration as it is being moved over the surface (movement is...
