Thank you and apologies I will go through your suggestions

    Any idea what these are

Does anyone know what the difference between these two are (on the picture) and what their presence would suggest?

    Can anyone identify these

The pictures are from different buildings (sorry should have mentioned). Bill. You mentioned that they would be used for control of mixing air. There is also a fan coil system in place. DOes this mean that there would be a AHU somewhere in the building or can these dampers be connected directly...

Thank you for all your help. You guys are just brilliant

    Can anyone identify these

No trick questions. I'm just trying to learn as much as possible about HVAC systems and on my journeys as a student surveyor I come across lots of these "beasts" and I am just generally interested in the whole thing. Reading BS books all day gives a good idea on how they work but when you come...

How best to improve heating system

Southampton England Why the runaround coil system? And why the heatpipe dehumidification?

How best to improve heating system

In a local swimming pool fresh air is drawn into the building, heated and blown into the pool room. The hot moist air then drifts across the pool via some poorly placed air-supply grilles and is then exhausted through roof extract fans! What is the best way to improve the heating system?

    Can anyone identify these

On the attached jpg are two pictures. First picture "part of fan coil" is due for installation on a roof to be part of the fan coil unit. What is it & what are the kinds/levels of leakage do they have/if any? Finally, does anyone recognise the second picture?

    Power Factor

Thank you all for your help. I thought the best way to find out the PF would be through bills as suggested above but most utility companies don't have this info. The main objective during the survey is to establish if the PF is <0.9 or between "0.9 and 0.95" or >0.95 and nothing further I guess...

    Chilled water circuit

    Thank you

    Power Factor

How can one tell if the "power factor" of a building has been altered/corrected to a better value. Is there any tell tell signs without the owner or anyone else being present to ask. Finally, wat is likely to be the power factor of an electric heater with simple resistance?

    Heating System

    Magic. Thank you

    Chilled water circuit

Sorry, why doesn't a heat pump or split systems not use a "chilled water circuit" (like chilled beams) and instead use a refrigerant

    Heating System

Does anyone know what type of heating system this is?

    Chilled water circuit

Why do chillers NOT need a chilled water circuit?
