I have run into this problem a number of times, but have not figured out what causes it. Often I will have the Shaded with Visible Edges view option selected, but the model shows hidden lines as well, making for a very cluttered and unclear view.
Sometimes toggling certain sketches on or off...
Is anyone aware of a way to print a model to PDF while retaining the visible edges? I have tried two different PDF printers and they both keep the shading but lose the visible edges of the model. Is this a Solid Edge option? I have selected the Shaded with Visible Edges view.
Thanks for your response. I had already reviewed the link you mentioned, but it didn't provide the information I was looking for. The recommended slope in a counter flow situation is 1:40, but it also notes that the pipe diameter should increase in the uphill section by some amount.
This...
What is the recommended minimum slope in cases where the pipe runs uphill and the condensate must run back against the steam flow? Is there a commonly used relationship based on the steam velocity?
Thanks!
Hi all,
In synchronous mode, after drawing some sketches, placing text, and placing an annotation balloon, faces are no longer selectable. Mousing over most of the model seems like the model is not even there. In some places it lets me select only the whole "Design Body" instead of individual...
Sorry, I think I was unclear. The problem isn't in setting the driving side of the dimension but in correctly pulling the features beyond the dimension inwards without stretching or distorting them.
I also tried to cut a section out of the pencil and move the ends together, but I can't figure...
Suppose there was a model that looks like a sharpened pencil with an eraser on the other end. How could the cylindrical pencil body be shortened while specifying which end moves in? I have tried to set locked dimensions but haven't had any luck yet. Is it possible to create an anchor point of...
Ahh, ok, that makes sense now. I was wondering why faces would be highlighted when mousing over features in the PathFinder. Part of my confusion stems from the Live Rules as well. I'm starting to get the hang of modifying the part using the steering wheel, but I can't seem to get the right...
I'm using synchronous. I figured out how to get a parallel plane, but how about angled, perpendicular, etc? It was just a couple of clicks in V20, so it must not be as difficult as it seems!
Thanks.
I'm having some difficulty doing some basic operations in ST3, but perhaps it is because I don't understand synchronous mode well enough. Is it possible to hide, suppress, or delete part features after constructing them in synchronous mode, or would I have to be in ordered mode for that?
It seems to me that sketching in ST3 is more difficult than it was in V20. I liked how in V20 when sketching you could quickly and easily select a sketch plane that was coincident, angled, parallel, perpendicular, etc to something. Is there some way to easily start a sketch in ST3 on a plane...
Hi Kenat,
Thanks for your response. Yes, the application is construction, but I'd like to get software that is not geared only towards routing but has the flexibility for other uses as well. It seems to me that SE or SW are the best options for this, but if there are other players out there...
Hi everyone,
Would anyone be able to recommend a good package for routing piping, ductwork, and electrical? I have heard that SolidWorks does not have good ductwork capabilities, but I haven't heard of a better alternative. If anyone has a recommendation, I would greatly appreciate it...
Hi all,
Does anyone here have experience creating interference drawings in SolidWorks? Any pointers? I know SolidWorks tends to be slow when working with large assemblies...
cad101,
Good point, thank you.
Well, it turns out that I had to change the plotter driver. The one I ended up using successfully to print in color was pscriptc.plt, although there were a few that seemed to work - some with better resolution and colors than others.

Well, I mean that I have hundreds of existing pieces of text that I need to rotate about themselves 90 degrees. As far as I know, I can't do that in Microstation 7, but in version 8 they made a command for it...?
