Thanks for your reply !
That was the first try of my simulations. But, since it is poroelastic there exist pore pressure continuity problems with Finite sliding application.
The actual model didn't converge due to complicated contact conditions. If I make the contact small sliding, then problem...
Thanks for your reply !
I would check with larger mesh size.
I am wondering what you mean by 'assembly' for interferencce fit.
I just modeled geometry of 2 parts sothat their instance will have some overlap as soon as they put them in assembly.
What you mean is different than this????
The...
Hi,
Thanks !
The interference fit seems to be not causing any convergence difficulties. But I guess, the problem couldn't converge because of other contact in the model.
Eventhough i use 'Adjust only to remove overclosure' instead of interference fit, model didn't converge...
The same...
Hi Rob,
Thank you very much for your kind reply !
In the model, I want to know the stresses/strains due to that interference and hence I used Interference fit option but not 'Adjust only to remove overclosure'.
Inorder to avoid 'falling of' the corner node, I used the face CartF.bottom_side...
Dear all,
First of all, I would like to appreciate the kinda response the people are giving in this forum. I learned a lot from this.
Description of my question:
I have modeled 3D complicated knee geometry where the poroelastic soft tissues are in contact with each other and also with its...
Thank you very much for your reply !
But I guess I need to read only nodal values for averaging.
Reading results at integration points is not the right option it seems !
Thanks a lot!

Hi,
I would like to get the average deformation/von mises stress/cpress of a prescribed surface from the odb file.
I know that i could write required fileld output from odb to .rpt file with column totals/max/min, but I am wondering is there any way to get average of some field output for...
Hi,
Thanks for your reply ! but....
If revolved the elliptical sketch, we get an ellipsoid, but the radius in XY and YZ planes would be same, i.e same elliptical minor and major axes.(in xz plane we can see the circle)
I needed two different radii in two different planes (xy and yz).
the...
Dear all,
For my research, I needed to make some 3d ellipsoid type model and analyze for different conditions.
I have the radii available in 2 planes, XY and YZ. I need to make surface with these two radii.
Sweep/extrude option doesn't work as it needs a solid sketch in XY plane and sweep...
Thank you very much for spending your valuable time to answer my question.
I understood so much info from these scraps !
I have been feeling very happy since we entered into contact
I am very glad to stay connect with you
Thanking you very much once again !

Thanks for your concern about my problem.
My permeability units are m^4/Ns. Since sp. weight of liquid is 1, the permeability is same as in m/s
I am always using SI units in this analysis.
Since articular cartilage is biphasic medium, it is quite reasonable to have saturation=1.
as you said...
Dear geotechniqa,
Thank you very much for your reply and your guidelines.
1. Initial time step should more than critical value and pore pressure tolerance(UTOL) should be large enough- abaqus documentation
2.Effective stress is not going to zero at any point. But I did not give any drainage...
Dear all,
I always get the warning in a contact problem with two porous bodies(CAX4P-axisymm pore pressure elements)
"There is zero VOL. FLUX everywhere in the model based on the default criterion. please check the value of the average VOL. FLUX during the current iteration to verify that the...
Dear friends,
Greetings !
I am Krishnagoud Manda, pursuing doctoral studies at KTH Mechanincs, Stockholm.I have been using Abaqus FE software for my research, especially in modeling of porous medium.
I would greatly appreciate your help if you consider my question.
I briefly explain about my...
Many Thanks for your replies...
@mrgoldthorpe
If i use time=step time, then i should use 700steps if i understand correctly ?
@vumat721
I will look at my load to represent in fourier series..
Thanks !

Dear all,
I am working on modeling of human knee articular cartilage.
I have made the model, but i don't understand why the solution is getting terminated ?
I can see only one error
***ERROR: TIME INCREMENT REQUIRED IS LESS THAN THE MINIMUM SPECIFIED
I am pretty sure that someone of you know...
Hi all,
How can i apply a pressure load on a surface in no. of cycles ?
I have to use trapezoidal load form over 1 sec and it repeats for 700cysles at 1 Hz.
I can apply the load by using *Amplitude ((tabular method) for 1cycle as
*Amplitude, name=Amp-1
0, 0.1, 0.05, 1, 0.45, 1, 0.5, 0.1...
