Hello cbrn
Totally agree with you comments. In particular this one
"in the sense that the ease-of-use of WB can be extremely treacherous for unexperienced people, who are much more in danger to do a "garbage calculation" believing that it's correct "because the program allowed it"".
I think...

A much better description of the situation than my attempt.
Sorry if I caused confusion but I didnt mean to imply that workbench was only design space. I thought I had covered that with the following:
"Design space is simply a licencing option for workbench which gives the lowest possible...
Hello
Firstly standard "classic" Ansys is the original package. It is generally command based, although it does have a GUI.
Classic Ansys is generally used by proper analysts who have an appriciation of stress analysis.
Workbench is the new ansys interface. It is very point and click based and...
Hello
I am running a harmonic response analysis in Workbench V11.
I am struggling to understand how to interprate the results to show if the component is "failing" or not.
Does anyone have any advice on the best way to approach this.
I am thinking that the results should somehow be assesed...

Many thanks for your comments.
I certainly belive that my customer has been asked to do this without considering why.
So in summary the main purpose of a sine sweep is to identify resonant frequencies. This can obviously be done much more simply in FEA by conducting a modal analysis...
Hello
I am currently doing some FE work on a part which undergos vibration during its life time.
These vibrations are causing failure in the component so my customer wants to do some FE work to validate a new design.
I have been provided with a sine sweep curve, which details double amplitude...
Hello
I have been involved in a project to simulate the flow in a hydrocyclone. (using CFX-10)
Part of the project requires me to look at the efficiency.
To do this I have been trying to use the particle track method, to determine the number and size of particles going to ueach outlet, but...
I have been doing some work on pressure vessels using Ansys workbench 9.0 and classic Ansys 9.0.
Previously all the analyses I have done where generated from solid elements.
Part of the requirement is to Linearize the stress intensity. This was quite easy, as I simply transfered my analysis...
Thanks for the reply.
I came to the same conclusion.
Instead of just having the parameter "material" I have split it up onto "material1", "material2" & "material3".
It seems crazy to have to do this but it is effective all the same.
Cheers for having a look.
I have just been creating a format that atomatically fills in using the parameters I set up in the models.
i.e assembly bom using repeat region
One of the parameter stings is quite long and dosn't fit into the table cell. As it is a repeat region I dont seen to be able to wrap it.
Any idea's why...
All you have to do is follow these steps
create a table with a repeat region
select to enter text into the table using the "report sys" function.
To get the names of the instances you need to use
fam ,inst , name
Then go to repeat region, attributes and select
"No...
Is the export to dxf icon greyed out or not active.
If it is its because you have fast HLR switched on.
switch it off and you should find the DXF icon is now active.
I am currently working on a large assembly and I keep getting a message saying "Warning reference pattern is missing". Is there an easy way of finding out which pattern it is refering to. Otherwise im going to have to trail through the whole assembly.
Thanks in advince for the help.
