Water Vapour Resistance of Dry-lining Boards

Hi Guys, I am trying to compare the water vapour resistance of Multi-pro XS boards and British Gypsum Duraline boards. I know from previous projects that Multi-pro is suitable for the conditions I'm facing, but the architect has specified 15mm Duraline. Multi-pro has a vapour resistance of 3.8...

Calculations for checking design of Lifeline Anchor

Thanks, everyone for your replies and advice. I work for a company that designs and produces pre-fabricated plant rooms. So this is what I mean by a cabin. The lifeline anchor is something the fabrication shop has sent up for calculations and design to be done. A typical example of a cabin is...

Calculations for checking design of Lifeline Anchor

Hi guys, I am trying to work out how I could do the calculations on a design for the attached lifeline anchor. The attached sketch shows the concept made of 50x50 SHS inserted into 60x60 SHS which is encased in concrete. The idea is to set one of these at either end of a cabin, attach a...

    What are airsprings (air suspension)

I would say material selection would be quite a design challenge. You'd be looking for an elastomeric material which is resistant to all weather influences, temperature extremes, while also being oil resistant on the outside and airtight on the inside. Any other suggestions?

    What are airsprings (air suspension)

Thank you for your responses. Them, along with using Google has helped me understand more what air springs are and where/why they are used. I'm still having difficulty finding out what the design challenges would be for a design engineer. Has anyone any thoughts on this?

    What are airsprings (air suspension)

I have just been invited to an interview this Friday 16th for a graduate position with a company who manufacture small air springs - donut rubber rings, seat air springs, and shock absorber sleeves. I have to give a 5 min presentation on "Air Springs:What are they and what are the design...

Guideline for snap fit rubber components

    Rubber Selection

So do you think EPDM could be a suitable material? Flexibility in the legs is something I would like, so the poles can be inserted to make a single unit, and then the legs folded down. But it would be no good to have the legs flopping about.

Designing a new roof cover support

Thanks for your reply looslib. My MD is driving me to redesign lol. I am a graduate with this company and this is kind of the project I have been tasked with(I am not a student asking for answers to homework). I can't see me being able to make it any easier for us to do here, but what I was...

    Rubber Selection

Do you think something like this picture can be made from rubber using a low cost production process? This is a central spider for a roof cover support. The current one is three separate pieces so this is a simple design making it a single piece. But I also want the arms to be flexible so the...

Designing a new roof cover support

My idea for single piece sheet metal design. The folds on the arms at 120 degrees are too much since the bending tool will not be able to be removed.http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=e091ee79-5da5-41dd-9c71-310ae9825dea&file=Sheet_Metal_concept.PDF

Designing a new roof cover support

I have been asked to improve on the central spider of the current roof cover support where I am working. The attachment shows the current design. It is three separate aluminium pieces which are held together with a 5mm screw. Although this is a simple design I want to design something which is...

    Rubber Selection

Thanks everyone for your replies. My knowledge of rubber and what it's capable of is quite low, so every little helps :-) I was thinking injection moulding at the start because I thought the project given to me was for a mass produced product. Turns out it will be quite a low batch produced...
