My company is the owner, designer is contracted to another entity and fabricator is sub contracted by designer.
I am the material/welding lead but design has been done during feed, now i am doing EPCIC, is clear now?
Anyway, i do agree with weldstan

Thanks to all for the replies.
The point is still there, despite the design rules, this trap has been designed as pressure vessel (probably wrong) and fabricator has purchased the ASTM material. This material is not listed in the Asme materials and, thus, not clear if can be certified by Asme...
Hi Littleinch,
Sorry i am in vacation and not easy to reply.
Anyway, it was not that the question. Design is not up to me, and even if it could be as you sais, now i am facing another kind of problem.
Thanks
Giuseppe
Hi everybody,
I have a question about a pig trap designed as per ASME VIII div 1 and which should be U-stamped.
I have received a comment told me that material like ASTM A694 F60/65 cannot be U-stamped cause is not listed in ASME VIII div 1.
Does anybody know if is possible to U-stamp material...
Thanks both.
In my case welding is in line with ISO 13847 Petroleum and natural gas industries — Pipeline transportation systems — Welding of pipelines, which do not forbid to transfer WPS to a sub-contractor, even if highlight that "shall be treated with extreme caution", section 7.6.2.
I think...
Hi all,
I have a question concerning possibility to use WPS/WPQR qualified in one factory and send to be used in a another (subcontractor) factory.
This is a pipe-to-forged weld as per ISO 13847 Petroleum and natural gas Welding of pipelines 2000.
Can i allow my sub-contractor to use one of my...
Thanks both for your answers.
I think that in same cases it can be accepted to cut before heat treatment, this is because of the shape and geometry. The specification is API 6A and it is not clear at all on this subject.

Hello,
I would like to know if anyone has experiences in cutting a prolongation for 4130 forging before or after the final heat treatment.
Supplier proposes to me to cut before the final heat treatment the prolongation and put everything in the same batch for the heat treatment.
I have been...
Several dimensions ( are for few umbilicals with main and internal pipes). Grades should be 2205 and 625 or 316L, with water and oil.
I let you know once I have more info.
which is the best process in that cases?
thanks
We would need to perform a pipe-to-pipe welding for dissimilar materials (duplex-Inconel and Duplex-SS316L), I am not a welding eng so I would like to know if someone has experiences on that and which is your advice in terms of process and filler materials.

We tested the weld as per same methodology of base material indicated in NACE TM0177 and Client critiria in No SSC Cracks. Yes it is difficult to accept this welding. So our though is to cover the surface with clad to avoid SSC corrosion (inconel 625 overlay).
Thanks for your answer

Hello,
I have a question regarding test result on welding root between ASTM F65 and SMLS 450.
Indeed, on 12 coupons tested in accordance with NACE TM177 two coupons were presented cracks of 0.7mm depth. To understand the problem we performed microhardenss test beside the cracks and we...
