A bit more than a bearing fire I believe............
On Tuesday 4th February at 6:00 am Ironbridge Power Station, Unit 1 suffered a failure of 12 blades at the row 6 position on Low Pressure (LP) Turbine No. 2 causing a fire. There was some secondary fire damage, but no injuries. Emergency...

I have heard the term bandied about but never particularly seriously, but it is suggested that the phenomenon can occur in large boilers used to drive steam turbines, I am somewhat dubious as searches for the phenomenon on line refer to anything from physiology of alveolae to qhantum mechanics...
Anybody any idea as to the limits of conductivity of closed circuit cooling water system used in a hydrogen filled generator (Dry stator)with 4 cccw filled hydrogen coolers. That is if there even is one? The Generator is around 220 Mws, and the conductivity was previously run at around 35...
Well put Boilerone, the only thing that I can add is that we also used to monitor "Through the wall" differential temperatures on boiler drums that we were force cooling in addition to the top to bottom diffs. The actual limits to work to will be dependant on drum steam conditions and structure.
