    HST315-5-_ Hi-Lite with HST1071TAWT5 Collars

Thanks RB, The pin was still in the hole after the head failed and I used the collar to pull the pin out of the back side since the head was totally gone. I actually was able to use my fingers to grab the collar and pull. No Vise-Grips or pliers. Nothing was clamped on the head. It failed...

    HST315-5-_ Hi-Lite with HST1071TAWT5 Collars

I already had the product datasheet. I've read every word of it several times in the past few days. I still can't think of any reason the heads would be failing BEFORE the collar reaches 25InLb.

    HST315-5-_ Hi-Lite with HST1071TAWT5 Collars

rb Please read. The head failed during installation being done by a well-trained operator who was using the correct tools, and going into a properly countersunk hole in carbon fiber. The head pulled off BEFORE the shear collar reached torque.

    HST315-5-_ Hi-Lite with HST1071TAWT5 Collars

Wil, This is occurring during new assembly on the manufacturing floor. It IS most certainly an HST315YV5-5-__ Pin with an HST1071TAWT5 collar that did not ever reach the proper torque of 20-30InLb. Before it reached that prescribed torque, the head failed around the full perimeter of the...

    HST315-5-_ Hi-Lite with HST1071TAWT5 Collars

I need to touch-base with a very knowledgeable person who has a significant amount of hands-on experience with these fasteners. I am experiencing some anomalies that I do not understand and I am hoping someone has experienced the same thing I am seeing. I won't waste anyone's time explaining...

    PQR for SA-333 Gr6, SA-350-LF2 cl1, SA-420-WPL6

mrfailure, I think the origin of the comments about testing labs were rooted in my original post where I disclosed that the first lab I used failed to decrease the MDMT per code, for the subsize test specimens.

    PQR for SA-333 Gr6, SA-350-LF2 cl1, SA-420-WPL6

Donde' Esta! That's what the metallurgists in NC said too, and they sent us on a wild goose chase! :)

    PQR for SA-333 Gr6, SA-350-LF2 cl1, SA-420-WPL6

Ludwig is doing it for me. I shot the package off to Alberta today. Mr. Langenecker has already went over all the reductions and other small details as I followed him in the code. He seems to really know what he is talking about. Thanks to all who commented to help me get a clearer picture of...

Thanks, That was a typo. Fingers going faster than brain :) Thanks for your Help!!!

    PQR for SA-333 Gr6, SA-350-LF2 cl1, SA-420-WPL6

Stan, Please give me a "NORMAL" heat input on a GTAW only test on 2"Sch80 at a 600# WN Flange for this material. (A*V*60)/(TravelSpeed "/Min) = Joules/Min of HeatInput Assume 2"/Min Travel Speed Looking at the settings on the machine after a pipe to flange weld, it looks like they are using...

    PQR for SA-333 Gr6, SA-350-LF2 cl1, SA-420-WPL6

What THINK I hear you saying, Stan... Do tensiles and bends from 2 pieces of 2" Sch80 SA-333 Gr6 pipe. That fulfills the requirement for welding pipe less than 24" diameter? Then do Charpy specimens from 3/8" plate of a piece of SA-516 Gr70 and a piece of SA-516 Gr60, which would fulfill the...

    PQR for SA-333 Gr6, SA-350-LF2 cl1, SA-420-WPL6

Thanks Stan, Would that qualify to weld pipe less than 24" O.D.? I though a plate qualification only applied to large-bore 24" and up? Bryan

    PQR for SA-333 Gr6, SA-350-LF2 cl1, SA-420-WPL6

Doing a Low-Temp bath coil for Canada. MDMT = -50F. Code of Construction = ASME B31.3 I am trying to determine best test pieces to qualify for 2"Sch80 and 1"Sch80. Pipe, Elbows, and Fittings are in P1/Gr1 and Flanges are in P1/Gr2, per ASME IX. Impact toughness test are required. Double...

    Hydro Gauges

Thanks Fellas, Not a large sample, but the fact that is unanimous leads me into changing my mind about using N.I.S.T. certified new gauges, without having them tested or comparing them to a MASTER gauge. @ zdas04--- The reason I ended my original post with "Thanks ahead of time for not being...

    Hydro Gauges

What calibration/recertification schedules are you folks using to insure your gauges used for ASME Hydro-Testing are reasonably accurate? Section VIII only says it needs done if a gauge is suspect. If you purchase a NEW gauge for a test, and it comes with a certificate showing testing to a...

    National Board Stamp and Number

We are an ASME shop with U and S stamps. I mistakenly stamped (4) dataplates with the NB symbol and # on line 2 of the plates. Line 1 shows Our name as Certified By..... The AI did not catch the error and the vessels got shipped. Now it is proving to be a problem to get the error corrected...

Applying the NB Mark for Section I replacement parts

To further clarify... in our case PG-108.1 and PG-107.2 placed Code Responsibility for the boiler on the BOILER MANUFACTURER and the BOILER ASSEMBLER (Erector). Code Responsibility was not placed on us as manufacturer of "parts." The "Boiler Manufacturer" was our customer.

Applying the NB Mark for Section I replacement parts

We are a "stampholder/manufacturer" who just fabricated dozens of "replacement/repair" pipe spools for an existing NB registered boiler. We have nothing to do with the installation of the "parts" that we shipped. We have nothing to do with registering the repair after our parts are installed...

Section I Thermal Oil Heater Quagmire!

Per customer's desires, We built a Single Helix Helical Coil, Thermal Fluid heater. Stamped "S" Under authority of Section I, Paragraph PG-2.4. AI will not sign the P-2 because the PRV calc's were not done by us, the PRV's were not specified, ordered, received, inspected, and supplied by us...
