Thank you all for providing great responses.
We were trying to avoid excavation, if possible, in order to avoid permitting requirement as mandated for the area. But based on most of your folks recommendation, looks like better option would be excavating some pipe on both end in order to...
Thank you LI. Do you know any vendor name who may provide flange spreader for 16" 600# flanges, if you happen to be in US. I understand risk of using spreader when pipe can sprung like your shared video, asking for info only.
Thank you gerhardl for a comprehensive response. Photo for above ground valve attached. Pipe on both hands of the valve is sitting on supports but looks like need better anchor and support with possibly shoe welded to the pipe on both ends in order to restrain pipe from moving during the valve...
Thank you pmover for your early response. I am little confused need of exposing the 200-300 ft of pipe. This line is buried but valves are above ground at valve stations which are planned to be replaced.
We are in a situation of replacing multiple 16” 600# gate valves with ball valves installed on natural gas pipeline. Both type of valves has same face to face dimensions. Problem we are facing is that this pipeline is in a seismic fault zone and we have feeling that pipeline is under stress and...
My company is looking for alternatives to free pipeline (12 inch) gas from entrained solids upstream of valve station. Few years back this line was being used for transferring crude oil before switching it to gas. Line has been pigged more than one time after switching but instruments (including...

Thanks for providing your insight and experience with this product.
One thing I couldn't catch is to use the deadhead band for protection against dry runnig. In case of no flow(like when someone closes the suction valve while pump is running)I am not sure this monitor will shutdown the...
On our LPG/LNG facility we use sealless pumps for LPG, caustic soda and ammonia services ranging from 1-40 HP. LPG mag drive pumps (40 HP) were originally supplied with power monitors for pump protection against no/low/ high flows plus some other inherent mag pumps troubles.
Our I&E department...
As working on equipment filing structure for a recently owned company I found few things which I am not sure:
1: Equipment files for old ones like manufactured before late 1960s have no ASME U-1A forms. On the other hand , new equipments have there U-1A Forms and also national board number on...
I believe we find the anomaly after finding the higher rpm which is giving us the numbers not matching with the curve. Also, as BigInch mentioned we probably have higher SG (which I believe it is)liquid at pump which is changing our output also. Plus some variance is always expected as Artisi...

Thanks a lot for providing this comprehensive list which is really helpful to start with.

We have liquid butane service transporting through this 10 mile long line. Line is always packed and is in mild temperature area so relatively fast to get the steady state. I plan to use 5%...

We don't have inducer installed. It is mentioned on the curve though as we were concerned about the NPSH in the design stage and was provided as an option.

I got 1775 rpm driver speed so running higher than supposed to be.
Pump discharge line is branched off about 150 ft away from pump to our truck loading rack and other to transport to railcars.
I could not check pump discharge pressure with pump off as operating at the moment and I can not...
Please find the pump curve as we discussed.
Waiting for comments
Thanks/Regards

I agree that pump should ride on the pump curve if it is the right one. If it is not then could be any of the reasons as you mentioned or it could be my misinterpretaton. I will try to get all these things cleared plus I will attach pump curve tomorrow.
As we have multipoint temperature...
As per regulatory compliance and safety concerns we need to set alarm setpoints for the maximum flow rate and response time if any leak detection occurs.
I read somewhere: In State of Washington, it is mandatory for all pipeline operators to be able to detect and locate leaks of 8 percent of...
Thanks BigInch
I will try to get the data at shut off as you mentioned but not sure whether operation will allow me to operate at this limit.
Do we need to have pressure at pump suction above than the vapor pressure all the time in order to avoid two phase/ cavitation. We have light hydrocarbon...

I don't have access at the moment for operating rpm of the pump/driver. Let you know about rpm and amperage with the pump curve by tomorrow.
But again, at or beyond the shut off head we shouldn't be making any positive flow as I understand.

BigInch
Sorry I may have confused you with the data. Let me try to explain:
Design data as per spec sheet
Q = 455 GPM
TDH = 172 ft
Suction pressure = 53.6 psia
Max pressure @ shut off = 97.5 psia
Calcs provide 78.8 psi shut off which will be:
78.8*2.31 = 182' and this...
