    Dimensioning - Fractional Precision Defaults

Thanks cowski, I tried changing the customer defaults as you suggested, but didn't have any luck. Attached is a picture of the prerference that I changed. I restarted NX and created a new file to try out the changes. Still get fractional dimensions with a precision of 1/16. The second...

    Dimensioning - Fractional Precision Defaults

Hello, I did some quick keyword searching and couldn't find what I was looking for, so I'll ask the forum. In the drafting environment, when I'm converting a three-place decimal to a fractional dimension, the fractional precision defaults to 1/16. So if I convert .157 to a fraction, it comes...

Angular alignment of two concentric parts?

Ok, I designed an experiment and got some interesting results that I'll share with you. I created a simple disc with two holes in it on a 2" B.C.D. I then assembled two of these discs together as per my previous posts, using two instances of the same part file. Now my technique of...

Angular alignment of two concentric parts?

ewh, These are good bits of advice - suffice it to say that that's where I started too! I did find that the two bolt pattern diameters varied by .0005". After rectifying this problem I still can't constrain these pieces the way I would like. There may be other iterations of constraining that...

Angular alignment of two concentric parts?

Thanks John, I appreciate the tip! Can anybody explain to me why my method won't work? Using planes to achieve angular alignment is great and I can already see that it will be invaluable in the future. But my method (if it worked) would also serve as verification that the bolt hole patterns...

Angular alignment of two concentric parts?

Thanks Jerry! This method only works for me when I first bring the part in. Can you change the ref set after the fact?

Angular alignment of two concentric parts?

Hello, I have an assembly that contains two concentric rings. Neither of these parts has any flat surfaces that I can use to constrain them to each other to achieve angular alignment. They do, however, contain matching bolt hole patterns. Here is what I have been trying. I've attached a...

    Fixture design

Dennis! What a coincidence, I'm also designing a heat treat fixture (but not using 316 ss). www.matweb.com tells me that the CTE of 316 austenitic SS is non-linear, which is to say that it increases as you get to higher temps. Not sure if this is an issue for you or not...

    Annotation Association?

YES! cowski, thanks a ton! Talk about an irritating issue...

    Annotation Association?

Jerry, Do you mean when I create the annotation? Because I do that already... Perhaps more info is in order. I've attached a screen shot of the error that I get after editing the hole that the annotation is attached to. In this example, I removed the start and end chamfer from the hole...

    Annotation Association?

Hi Folks! I've got what I hope is another simple question for the NX experts out there! When I create an annotation in the drafting environment in NX6 and then modify the feature that the annotation is attached to it disassociates from that feature. No problem, right? You just use the...

    Hidden Line Formatting?

    Works great! Thanks!

    Teamcenter

Deerkill, Not that I know of. But then again, your problem might be that you, sir, are a pirate! Arrrrr! Good luck with ye Team Center problem!

    Hidden Line Formatting?

Hey folks, I've just printed my first E-sized drawing using NX 6 and am not thrilled with the results. Specifically the hidden lines look pretty awful. I chose the dashed format for these because the dotted format does not print (as in, dotted format is identical to Invisible). Is there any...

    NX6 Note Expression Formatting...

Hello, I have discovered the joys of using expressions in my drafting notes to keep the paramteric link intact between my drawings and models. However, I'm having trouble formatting an expression so that the displayed value is fractional. For example, my current expression is: <X0.2@p69>...

    NX 6 Surface Finish?

Har har, Now I have something to contribute (even though it was my coworker that figured this one out). If you go to Edit>Component you can both move and/or delete a gap. Simply choose which action you'd like to perform then choose the dimension/object that has the gap in it. Works pretty slick.

    NX 6 Surface Finish?

Jerry, As the poster said in that link you gave above, "You da man!" Very helpful tips! I could have spent hours trying to figure that out. Thank you!

    NX 6 Surface Finish?

Jerry, Can you explain how you use the user defined symbols to callout surface finish?

    NX 6 Surface Finish?

Thanks guys, Sounds like a note with a leader and the appropriate surface finish symbol grouped to the note is as good as it gets for NX6? I guess it'll have to do...

    NX 6 Surface Finish?

Hi again, Just found the UG_env.dat file in the UGII folder. I turned the option for surface finish ON, only to discover that "Suface Finish Symbols are not supported in English partfiles or English Drawings." Since my company standard is in fact to use English units, I'm hoping somebody else...
