Just a clarification regarding unreinforced openings in ASME VIII div. 2 subsequent to Ed. 2007.
Until Ed. 2004, AD-510 allowed for unreinforced openings for hole diameters less than 2" (50 mm).
Starting from Ed. 2007 unreinforced openings seem to be no longer covered, even if unreinforced...
I don't know Mechanica and I've never done something similar, anyway, I'd suggest to try modelling the o-ring (proper modulus of elasticity) putting contact elements between the o-ring and both the cover and the groove metal surfaces; for a first analysis "glue" type should be sufficient.
