    Gen2 Carbon Fiber

I can't give a definitive answer but i am seeing manufactures release updated versions of established resin systems such as 'improved' versions of Aerospace resins during developement periods. Typically though resins and fibres get given letter or number extensions to denote a modified formula...

    Drills For CFRP

Does anyone know if there are any standard drill point geometries for CFRP drilling? By this i mean NAS 907 describes some drills and the metals they're to be used on. Is there one for CFRP? Any help appreciated

    Failure Analysis Course

Sorry, swall. my 'help' turned out to be no good. The short courses are modules from postgrad courses that are taught in one week. This may also be true for some U.S institutes. sorry i couldn't be of more help.

    Failure Analysis Course

There some good ones in the UK. Where are you? In the UK there're broken up university courses that are very good for topping up knowledge. Cranfield http://www.cranfield.ac.uk/sas/postgraduatestudy/taughtcourses/advancedmaterials/cpd/page13240.html or possibly...

Composite machining: Diamond or Diamondlike coating?

generally speaking... Diamond like can be redressed and coated. true diamond cannot. this is a cost-per-hole type problem as i find coatings make very little difference to quality. You may have to buy some of each and compare prices accordingly.

    laminate surface finishing

The surface of the laminate is typically very close to that of the contacting surfaces. not wishing to sound patranising... polished aluminium or glass which is then released gives good surfaces. To get the 'bag-face' shiny use a caul plate. this being a flat (if making flat panels) plate of...

    Cutting carbon/foam composite

Diamond 'encrusted' (brazed diamond) stuff works the best for me to prevent de-lamination/de-bonding. If CNC-ing you can get endmill/router versions. accuracy is not the best though.

Best carbide grades for aircraft composites

A bit late, but... I have repeatedly read K10 to be a good starting point. experience suggests that because of the extremely high abrasiveness you would see little difference between them anyway. Coating any less than a true diamond coating don't produce great improvements either. You can of...
