If I need to measure the torque to turn a device but I can only apply a torque wrench to a bolt at 150mm radius, is there a way of calculating the relationship between the wrench and the dvice?
Has anybody got the calculation method for determining the tractive effort required to counter-rotate a tracked machine on various surfaces with varying track length and track pitch?
Thanks...
The principles of PWM are clear to me, but does anyone have any pictorial representation of what dither looks like when superimposed on the PWM signal. We use these principles in the drivers for solenoids on hydraulic proportional valves.
Please direct me to a more appropriate forum if needed.
Thanks everyone. A few more details might clarify the situation. The motor is delivering about 735 Nm at 800-1000 rpm and in my mind the rods resemble a wound up elastic band, storing energy. When one end of the system is released the end of the rod will accelerate and the torque from the motor...
I have a hydraulic motor that has an angular acceleration limit of 87,000 rad/s². The motor is driving a drill rod which is of cylindrical section and when it operating at full torque can be wound up by as much as 4 turns (length is 1000m). When the rod breaks into a void the energy is released...
Dan,
Whoever told you this was a hydrostatic transmission should be shot.
Running away downhill is an obvious consequence of using an open loop circuit without motion control valves (aka counterbalance valves).
HST would normally be associated with a closed loop system where dynamic braking is...
HST is absolutely the way to go, but flow dividers are useless in high steer angles and a high power drain to boot. Sauer-Danfoss have an electronic control and hydraulic flow control system (ASC - Anti spin control) that senses wheel speed and steer angle (2 or 4 wheel) and shuts down flow to a...
Hi folks,
I wonder if you can help with a problem I'm having with Excel.
I have a spreadsheet that I created some macros in to help me with the development stage of an application. I then deleted all the macros but when I open the file it still asks me if I wants to run macros, even though...
Brad,
You're absolutely right, I've used those same utilities to crack a forgotten cell protection password (which are essentially equivalent to 4 digits, no matter how many digits you use),but I believe a long file open password would still be the safest bet, as the the time to crack can still...
Has anybody got a simple circuit for maintaining the pressure reasonably constant behind multiple tine cylinders, whilst accepting fluid (perhaps into an accumulator) when the ground conditions get harder and the cylinders are forced back. The pressure needs to be settable between 400 and...

In the hydraulics industry, pressure drop is the difference in pressure between upstream and downstream of a component, and back pressure is the pressure on the downstrean side of a component that usually returns oil to the reservoir (ie the back pressure is associated with the pressure losses...
Greg,
It would be very unusual for someone to use a coupling with an interference fit on a hydraulic pump input shaft, as usually internal damage would result on fitting this type of coupling. Are you doing something exotic?

Greg,
Thanks for this, but I'm afraid the original formula is correct. Look at any Fluid Power Manufacturers Literature. eg http://www.sauer-danfoss.com/domdb/SASproducts.nsf/2dd81f77829d09d086256591004f57d7/7f5b44a5a2c7605c8625658b00027fe4/$FILE/10030c.pdf
