    Query on Abaqus *fil file

I'm trying to convert the sel into ASCII on my computer. Difficult as well since I can't install any .exe

    Query on Abaqus *fil file

Unfortunately I cant, I use a cluster so some paramters are there by default, I can only select how many cpus to use, but cant' get rid of the cpu command. It's nervewrecking because I have a .sel file I just can't read it

    Query on Abaqus *fil file

I found how I can add that to the cluster bu that's what I receive: job=XYZ.inp convert=select cpus=32 memory=30720MB interactive b'Abaqus Error: Command line option "scratch" may not be used with "convert".' According with the manual the two commnad (scratch and convert) are not mutually...

    Query on Abaqus *fil file

that is from command line only, correct? Any option available to transform the sel into fil within the *.inp file?

    Query on Abaqus *fil file

What would be the procedure for EXPLICIT? I keep reading the manual with no success. The only info I've been able to find is to write convert=select but I lunch my analysis in a cluster and I don't have that option.

    Equivalent of ELFORCE in Abaqus

Thank you! I thought about it but was not sure since it was the section not the elements

    Equivalent of ELFORCE in Abaqus

I need to have in output the membrane forces in each shell element. In Nastran the command is ELFORCE, does anyone know if there is anything similar in ABAQUS? Thank you

Rivets modelling to connect 2D to 3D mesh

We are assessing the problem atm. A bulky reinforcement is attached to longerod (the 2D part of the analysis) and we are worried for it of course, more than for the reinforcement. I assume bushing a hole of a 0.81 mm plate is not a possiblity.

Rivets modelling to connect 2D to 3D mesh

Thank you all for your answers. I need to model the hole because during the machining of that component that hole was drilled larger than specification. Since the component is considered critical and not simple to install, we are checking if and how the stress distribution changes. We are...

Rivets modelling to connect 2D to 3D mesh

Hi all, I have a 3D mesh connect with rivets to a 2D (midsurface) mesh. I'm not sure how to model rivets in this case. If the case was 2D-2D I would create a RBE2 web for each hole and connect each central node to a CBAR. How this translates into 3D-2D?

    Rigid Movements

I could. Should I glue the two plates? No sure if that would be too conservative. I don't see other ways though

    Rigid Movements

Hi all, Imagine have two plates are in contact and they're connected through bolts. The top plate is much stiffer than the bottom one. Now, At the bottom of the bottom plate there is a force applied vertically. Due to the presence of the top plate, the bottom will probably rigidly tilt but...

    Algorithm to implement the Plasticity

Can anyone suggest a book or paper that explains how NASTRAN uses the stress-strain curve (TABLES1 and MATS1) in case of non-linear analysis (SOL 106)?

    Visualize CONM2

Is is possible in Hypermesh to visualize point masses?

    Questions on RBE2

FEW way: both surfaces are simply supported rb1957: If I had found the answer myself I wouldn't have be here asking for clarification...... don't you think?

    Questions on RBE2

I have a simple question about RBE, I need to know how they work: let's say I have 2 surfaces on top of each other, both modelled with 2D quad element. The top has a very low thickness, 0.016 in (0.41 mm) and it's aluminum, the bottom is a slab of aluminum 1 in (25.4 mm) thick. To model a...

    Visualize Equivalent Plastic Strains

How can I visualize Eq plastic strain? I see them in the f06 file NASTRAN produced but I can't find any button/command that shows them

    Request plastic strain in NASTRAN

Thank you. I can see them in the f06 file but I can't the option on Hypermesh. I can select: Von mises, signed von mises, tresca, love param xi and theta, P1, p2 p3, max shear, intensity, presure, xx, yy zz... EDIT: I read around that NLELAST won't give me the equivalent plastic strain but...

    Request plastic strain in NASTRAN

Can I request plastci strain in nastran? Since the stress in my model goes beyond yield and I'm using a plastic stress-strain curve (input through TABLES1) I'm sure somewhere the model has plasticity but I can visualize it. thank you

Plate Deflection: FEM vs. hand calculation

I found the solution of the problem: I didn't use the parameter FOLLOWK and LGDISP for large displacements. Because of that, the stiffening effect of the deformation was not taken into account by nastran. The deformation went from 214 mm to 15 mm... I'd say a huge change!
