    NPT In Feature Parameters

Thanks John. Have to investigate why it's not working for me.

    NPT In Feature Parameters

Using NX8.5 When I use Feature parameters for a screw hole it gives me say "1/4-20 (depth).50" But when I use it for a tapered NPT thread, I get "1/8-(depth).39" Is it possible to get 1/8 NPT-(depth).39 ?

    Feature Parameters Placement

Thanks John. That's what I was afraid of. [sad]

    Feature Parameters Placement

Sorry John, I was actually referring to a cross section of the hole. I guess from what you are saying it is pointing to that point at the open end of the hole. In drafting it is sometimes better to point to the edge of the thread say half way down the hole for clarity. You are correct when it is...

    Feature Parameters Placement

NX 8.5 When using the Feature Parameters for a tapped hole callout, is there a way to place the arrow where you want it to be? Or at least move it to where you want and still have it be parametric? Thanks Brad

Subtract vs. Create with sheet bodies

NX 8.5 Working in the rubber mold industry. Is it better to just simply subtract the piece part model to create a cavity, or create the cavity by extracting sheet bodies from the part model and create other sheets to form a cavity block? I've seen it done both ways, but don't know if either one...

    Assembly Load Options

NX 8.5 In the Assembly Load Options dialog box there is an area marked 'Reference Sets' How does this work and/or what is its purpose? Thanks.

    Thanks all. Appreciate the help.

    Reference sets

I can't figure it out. I have an assembly. In the assembly I have 2 end bars and 4 cross bars. The Assembly navigator looks like this: +Assembly End Bar End Bar Cross Bar Cross Bar Cross Bar Cross Bar The cross bar has 2 bodies in it. One with a hole and one without the hole. In...

    Reference sets

OK. The help files talk about arrangements to show parts in different positions in an assembly. I have not seen where it talks about different configurations of the same part. Guess I'll have to dig deeper. Maybe I can find a video that John has made to show how this is done. [bigsmile]

    Reference sets

Then what is the point of Reference Sets? I have 4 parts in an assembly that are identical except that 2 have a hole and 2 do not. I made the one, then Insert>Associative Copy>Instance Geometry and then added the hole to the copy. In the assembly I pick the ref. set for each. How should this be...

    Reference sets

Boy do I feel stupid now. [thumbsup2] Didn't think there would be a filter for that. Thanks cowski.

    Reference sets

In UG NX8.5 trying to create a reference set in an assembly. In the dialog box I click 'Add New Reference Set' but it won't let me select any components. If I check the box 'Add Components Automatically' I get a message: 'This reference set excludes all components. Do you want to add them back...

Thanks guys, I found it. All the values appear to be in the right place, they are just not getting picked up by UG.

Thanks cowski, but I don't find any of those files in my NX installation. Do you know what directory they might be in or should be in?

Are these values written to a file somewhere?
