Thanks for your reply.
I find it odd that a flange that had been in use for 30-something years was replaced by a significantly thicker one. Different design rules...?
The standard DIN or EN 1092 flanges do fail when calculated according to EN 13445 or ASME VIII. EN 1092-1 Annex F doesn't offer...
Hi all,
I understand that EN 1092-1 flange standard has replaced several DIN standards.
My question is: comparing, for example, PN 10 welding neck flanges as per DIN 2632 vs. the equivalent flangse as per EN 1092-1 standard (type 11) the EN standard flanges are longer (h1) and thicker (c2) -...
Thank you for your reply, but I don't quite follow you.
What I meant was that I have an installation similar to the picture on the right side of the attached file as opposed to the left side. I don't understand how I will have different loads on each side if the embankment covers all of the...
Hi all,
I have a question regarding a steel pipe which will be buried in an embankment. Using the Marston-Spangler theory, the dead load on top of the pipe will be the full amount of the soil prism above the pipe, I get that.
My question lies with the way to determine the pipe's deflection: is...
This bearing is for a Spillway Radial Gate. The dam which it belongs to started being constructed about 40 years ago, but it was never finished.
The bearings were left on the outside of the warehouse, exposed to the Sun and rain. We are now completing the job and are deciding what to do with...
Hi all,
I have an old self-lubricating bushing specification - Dorcolube Kingwell, Bronze Alloy E Type as per ASTM B22.
Does anybody know what company supplied / used to supply this? Has anybody ever came across this spec?
I found a deceased company called Kingwell Bros. Ltd. that, as far as...
Admissable stress: 103 N/mm2
P = 3 bar, working stress = 272 N/mm2
P = 6 bar, working stress = 525 N/mm2
44 mm isn't enough? Although that's what the spreadsheet tells me, I don't find it intuitive. According to my calculations, only a 112 mm thickness flange would be enough to check the...
Hi all,
I'm trying to calculate a loose flange (sketch 3a of fig 2-4) that will be fabricated. I've started out with the dimensions of a DIN 2575 flange (same as EN 1092 Type 1). I'm going to use a Klingersil C-4324 gasket.
Now, my problem is that the stresses I get are nowhere near the...
Hi all,
Does anybody have an article by one J. Dutheil (French?) about the formulation to determine the buckling of circular rings (penstocks) subjected to inner void? I have the calculation method prescribed in this article but I can't understand some of the formulas, so I would like to know...
In the Eurocode, concrete's compressive strength is specified as CXX/XX (e.g. C30/37), in MPa.
The first number is for compressive testing done in a 150 mm diameter and 300 mm high cilinder, the secondo one is for a 150 mm cube.
Does CutePDF allow you to choose the quality of the print?
The PDF printer that I use has a number of quality options that do change the size of the file a lot (e. g. print quality, web quality, etc.)
No luck there.
Anyway, here's the attached picture that was missing.http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=51601839-8db9-4f7b-a8c4-732c929be3d4&file=trash-rack-cleaner.pdf
Hi,
Does anybody have a CAD block of a trash rack cleaner? See attached picture for reference.
I just want a schematic block to insert on a tender drawing so that the developer gets the idea.
Alternatively, I'm going to put an adapted excavator.
Thanks.
The design of an anchor bolt's length should be considered as serviceability or ultimate limit state?
I'm reviewing a project and the engineer who made it calculated it as serviceability, thus reducing the loads, but I think it shoud definitely be ultimate limit state.
I thank you in advance...
Indeed I am, but I'll have to manage it somehow =)
I have uploaded a sketch of the piping.
I have omitted some information (and have forgotten to consider it on my calculations as well): most of the piping, as you can see on the sketch, is embedded in concrete. The very end of it is attached...
