    Primary protection of instrument PT

Hi All, working on a 25kV GIS gear. the Primary of the instrument PT on the voltage bus does not have Over-current protection. Is that typically acceptable? To add primary fuses, we need to add another section to the GIS since the PT is plug in type and I can't attach a fuse to the PT body...

DC circuit breaker selection question for PV application

Hi All, Here is a question coming from Ontario Canada. I am trying to size the DC breaker and conductors for a Solar application. The short circuit of the PV source circuit is calculated at 200A dc, 600Vdc the ampere rating of the PV source circuit is 200Ax125%=250A dc the continuous load...

600V to 44KV grid tying options

Talk to the LDC. each LDC has its own rule of the transformer configuration. I would suggest multiple transformer close to the solar array, as single 3MW transformer that sitting in the middle of the field will cause huge AC loss at 600V level to travel to the transformer.

Direct Buried DC cable ampacity calculation for solar farm

I am designing the cable trench for 24 direct buried cables (12 circuits) for a solar farm project. Each cable carries 168A dc current, continuously. Both "+" and "-" carry the same amount of current, which is obvious for DC. Question 1: How am I suppose to size the cables with optimum...
