    Milling time in CS

Thanks - I used Mike's suggestion and talked to Sandvik. We have to get a new tool and inserts but the time is down to 16 minutes!

    Milling time in CS

Hi, I'm looking to come up with a machining time estimate to mill some CS Plate (A516-70). I need to face/shoulder mill off a "1/4 moon" shape of about 104 sq. in. by 1" deep. The only shoulder milling is around a 5" radius for about 270 degrees. The rest is all face mill. If it make it easier...

    Can't fillet this part.

Any ideas on how I can fillet the intersection of the two pipes? If I split the part in half by cutting at the centerline it fillets fine. But then my mirror to remake the part fails. Thanks Link

Short term corrosion of CS in hot H2S environment

Environmental conditions: Hydrogen, propane, methane 220 ppmv H2S 350 psig, 800F I'm looking for expected corrosion rates of A516-70 Carbon Steel plate, normalized over a 6 month period. Other materials which I don't think will be any issue will be stellite 6, nitronic 60, Inconel 718, Inconel...

    Heat Treating Inconel 718

I have a couple of questions on the HT procedure for the 1700-1850 F Anneal and age that is in the Huntington Alloys book (attached). As I understand the directions they say to step 1) anneal at 1700-1850F step 2) cool step 3) aged at 1325F/8Hrs step 4) cool to 1150F step 5) age at 1150F total...

    High temp caustic environment

Some of it is pressure vessel but the pressures are low (30 psi at the high temp, 75 psi at the low temp). The X-750 is primarily bending. The 718 is primarily torsion and with some bending. The Nitronic is for cylindrical bearing/moving against the 718 shaft and has some bending. The...

    crack in PSV spring

It's a bit hard to tell from the pictures but it appears to me that possibly the spring is cracking because of bending across the section, which would happen if the spring is in torsion about it's central axis. This is often overlooked in spring design because the normal design practice is to...

    High temp caustic environment

I looking to design some equipment that will be working in the following environment. 800-1,000 deg F free sodium, Sodium Oxide, and Sodium Hydroxide, Ti-metal and NaCl (salt) mixture - all four are possible. I need some guidance in corrosion compatibility for some high strength and wear...

    How to re-normalize A516-70 PWHT

Thanks salmon2 for that info. I'll calculate the CE & use the attached chart for the temp limit. There are many rings and we'll stack them It is Sec IX weldtek, I remembered that we would need to have a new WPS qualified, but it's good of you to remind me...

    How to re-normalize A516-70 PWHT

My client wants A516-70 plates that have been rolled and welded to be re-normalized after welding. The dimensions are about 40" ID X 1.5" wall x 8" long. Can anyone please point me to a spec that would provide the necessary temperature, holding time, heating/cooling rates, etc.? Thanks.
