websites with stress-strain curve data for hiper-elastic material models

I agree with Rick, if you want more accuracy you could use a multilinear model to define the material behaviour instead of hyper-elastic which is more propicious for rubber like materials. Anyway, did you try to find stress-strain data in CampusPlastics? I have found some PET grades there.

sum of the principal stresses in ansys / workbench

Hi, In workbench you can use "user defined results". In expression write S1+S2+S3, (S1+S2+S3 are the principal stresses). Then you will able to plot the sum of the principal stresses and find where it is located the maximum value. If you want to know available expressions, clik on Solution...

How to simulate an air intake with conical inlet in fluent

Hello to all, I have a doubt about this kind of simulation in fluent. This duct is the first part of the car intake system, the one which leads air from outside to the filter box. Theoretically the inlet has a much higher section due to this conical shape and the air flow should be nearly 0. I...

structure design for a vibration test

Does it make sense to me. In fact, in the specifications of the shaker it appears the maximum force we can apply. Thank you very much for your help.

structure design for a vibration test

Thanks for your help, That is why i consider important to do a modal analysis of the assembly. Theoretically, if the natural frequencies are far from our study range, could we avoid those effects of mass / damping?

structure design for a vibration test

Hi Greg, Thanks for your reply. You're right, that formula gives low power consumption at high frequencies, that is the reason why i am not sure about that. I will try to explain the way i got it: Assuming that the displacement is sinusoidal x=X*Sin(w*t) (where w=2*Pi*f) then velocity and...

structure design for a vibration test

Hello to all, Recently we have acquired a shaker test bench and we need to design a support structure to make a vibration test of a part. We had an internal discussion about this matter but i wonder if you could let me know if we are working in the right direction. Firstly we think that we...

Noise reduction in the intake conducts of a car

Hi to all, We are trying to achieve knowledge about noise reduction in the intake system of a car, specially the noise that turbocharger generates. Does anyone have information about noise generation of turbochargers? And what about the methods of noise reduction? Thanks in advance.

Modeling an air duct with shell elements, applying pressure.

Many thanks for your answers. The d/t ratio is bigger than 10. And what about pressure application? I suppose Ansys calculate the forces related to the pressure directly in each element area, but those elements represent mid-surface.So i suppose that Ansys is applying more force than in a real...

Modeling an air duct with shell elements, applying pressure.

Hi, It is possible to simulate an air duct with shell elements? I have doubts when i apply an inner pressure. If I choose an intermediate surface to model it, the surface is bigger than the inner surface of the real pipe. So I suppose that the applying pressure has a bigger effect in the...

hypermesh to ansys, error in element formulation.

Hello people, I am trying to export a shell mesh to ansys. I am using shell 181 elements of ansys. I get the mesh in ansys but when I try to run it, Ansys crashes after some iterations with the following error message "Error in element formulation" Does anybody know what I am doing wrong...

How to see interpolated material data

Hi everyone, I have to simulate a plastic part and i am using Miso material model. I have stress-strain data at some temperatures and the temperature i want to simulate at, is between 2 of those. Although I know that Ansys applies linear interpolation to get the material curve at my...

    Rigid region and reaction forces

Hello, I'm trying to calculate stress and reaction forces in a plastic pipe aplying an inner pressure. It's the first time i use a rigid region. So I have applied a rigid region in the pipe and then all DOF = 0 in the all master nodes. It seems that calculates well the stress but the...
