shear anchorage for tanks designed to APi 650

Since shear is usually 0.4 of tension, it is not taken into account. Friction between the bottom of the tank and the concrete cannot be taken into account if mechanically anchored. I have used two different methods. Using AISC method for combined loading on bolts, re-size the bolts Add weld...

    API 650 Appendix V - 8.1.2

Edit : In equation V8.1.2, also divide the top variable "E" by 1000 to move it from GPa to MPa and keep the answer in kPa. Numbers will come up the same as if you did them non-dimensionally.

    API 650 Appendix V - 8.1.2

Thanks guys. Just an FYI for anyone who runs accross this. For the equations that call out D/tmin; divide by 1000 to be dimensionally accurate. In equation V8.1.2, also divide the top variable "E" by 1000000 to move it from GPa to MPa. Numbers will come up the same as if you did them...

    API 650 Appendix V - 8.1.2

All, Can someone help me with the units defining the design external pressure? I am using Mathcad, and plugging in directly (Psi = 2.5, HTS = 1.97m, D = 1.97m, tmin = 6mm, E = 200GPa) I get an anwer of .236Pa. However, I noticed in the nomenclature that E is defined in MPa and tmin in mm...

API650 Anchor Bolt vs AISC vs ACI

API states, “An allowable tensile stress for anchor bolts and straps equal to 80% of the published minimum yield stress.” (paragraph after equation E.6.2.1.2-2). Currently, the sheet I worked up uses the anchor bolt sizing from AISC, which puts a safety factor of Ω = 2 and uses 75% of the...

    Anyone?

    Simple While Loop

yea, did that, and all the other internet searches I could, to no avail. The while command can start from any point, and I have no idea how many iterations it will take to get to my result, hense the reason for using the while loop

    Simple While Loop

Hmmm... I get what you are saying. The example was a simplistic situation for what I am really trying to calculate. I attached the mathcad and a pdf just in case. Am I not passing the arguments correctly? I have done other loops without a problem, cannot see why this one is not okay...

    Simple While Loop

    Tried changing the inequality sign SS: |h <-- 1 |b <-- 1 | while Sa < 10 |Sa < -- b + h |h <-- h + 1 |return h ss = 10 still should be 9

    Simple While Loop

    Doesnt work either SS: |h <-- 1 |b <-- 1 | while Sa ≤ 10 |Sa < -- b + h |h <-- h + 1 |return h ss = 11 should be 9http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=a6ce7a5b-06ba-4433-8e77-b937937424a3&file=loop_problem.xmcd

    Simple While Loop

    Well, now I am home and dont have the file. SS: |h <-- 1 |b <-- 1 |Sa < -- b + h | while Sa ≤ 10 | h <-- h + 1 |return h the program says basically i have an infinite loop. dont get it I have done it without the return statement as well and get the same answer. I...
