Hi everyone,
looks like this issue was already raised but the threads seems a little old. I'm wondering if anyone could find a fix for this issue. I mean, automatic centerline function creates xy oriented center marks instead of using the pattern reference circle. When trying to use the bolt circle centerline, after a few holes selected, an error message pops saying the annoying «Invalid radius»...
So if any one got something, that would be great.

How are your circles made in the modeling ?
Circular pattern ?
Do they cross a non flat face ?
Did you check modeling tolerances and this view style, general tab, tolerance.

Hi,
the circles come from a «Simple hole» that is instanced in a circular array. The holes are through the part who is a circular ring. They pierce through a radius on the exit side. I checked the tolerance and they were to 0.0001, I don't know if that's usually enough.
The thing that's really not clear to me is that of the 6 instanced holes, 4 can run the bolt circle centerline feature but the 2 left («Invalid radius») can only be taken separately in a new feature. I tried to select the holes from different places around their circumference even if the projected edge is a single segment.
If I run the bolt circle feature from the flat side (hole placement face is flat), it works but the drafting isn't as good you know...

Thanks for the help

0.0001, are you working with inches ?
That's smaller than default but it is maybe the standard in aerospace, I don't know.

In mm, default modeling is 0.0254, view general tolerance is at 0.019
In inches, default modeling is 0.001, view general tolerance is at 0.0021
Try to loosen the tolerance, replay via "edit" "feature" "playback"
Then update your drawing view.

Is this part coming from inch/mm conversion ?

Unless you're manufacturing jet engines, I doubt if many aerospace companies are using a tolerance of 0.0001(in). Generally speaking, the automotive industry uses tighter tolerances than does aerospace. In fact, since we are selling so much more into the automotive segment these days, we've decided to change our out-of-the-box Modeling tolerances to be more consistent with what has been accepted for many years as the automotive industry standard for CAD modeling and manufacturing. Therefore, starting with NX 9.0, the new default distance tolerances have changed from 0.0254(mm) to 0.01(mm) and from 0.001(in) to 0.0004(in) (note that the default angle tolerance has not changed).

yes I'm working in inches and the parts has been created in inches. I've tried the edit/feature/playback and no error were reported. The problem is still there but the two problematic holes aren't the same anymore on the circular pattern (2 out 6 are «invalid radius»)...[ponder]
I'm kind of lost... it's NXplicable...

Thanks for your help, it's much appreciated
