Have you ever seen capacitor banks as one of the terminals in a 115 kV ring bus? If so, what kind of separate isolation or switching device besides the two breakers did it have?

Thanks

I worked for a utility for few years and saw a number of 138kV cap banks connected in a ring. This utility always used a controlled switching device (Synchronous, Pre-Insertion Resistor, etc.) between the cap bank and line position. The utility also required that the line breakers be capable of interrupting the capacitive current of the bank. This would provide an interrupting device if the controlled switching device failed.
