I need to specify a 125VDC 60A panelboard to replace a dog's breakfast of old circuit breakers and disconnects. The panelboard will supply protective devices in a substation. It is protected upstream by a 60A fused disconnect.
Are a standard AC panelboard, rated for 125/250VDC, and associated DC-rated circuit breakers sufficient? I'm looking at a 3-phase SquareD main-lug ILine panelboard. I am assuming that the DC lines should be connected to two mains, say A and C phases, on the 3-phase panelboard (as opposed to connecting the DC+ to one main, and the DC- to the neutral of a 4W panel). And so the branch circuit breakers would need to be 2-pole and ordered/arranged such that they are connected across A and C buses. Are there any problems with this solution?
