13ft tall wall - will 2x8 studs be too warped?

I am designing a tall wall (13ft). 2x8's at 24 will work for the design, but will they be too warped? In the past we have used LVL's in tall walls for this reason, but those walls were much taller than 13ft.

13ft tall? 13' is not tall in my world. A tall wall for us is when you have to ask if they stock the material at the lumber yard. A good framer will cull a lot of material to build a nice wall at this height. A crap framer does not. It works.

I would not expect any problems with 13' tall 2x8 wall.

I've done similar height walls in 2x6
Never asked for feedback to be fair, but I've never had any issue with a builder pushing back or complaining either
Would have thought you'd be right as rain with 2x8 as long as the timber is decent to start with

I agree with the above posters. I would however look into whether studs at 24 are preferable. Specifically keeping in mind available insulation widths. Where I practice they generally put studs at 16" o/c regardless of whether @ 24" would work.

Ben29:
You do cull some of the pile of framing material to pick the best pieces for something like this. Then, a good framer will put any camber in the same direction, belly in or belly out, so that you do not have every other stud, jamb or column offset in the opposite direction. Primarily, this improves blocking, sheetrock or finish installation, and the hanging of fixtures and cabinets, etc.

Thank you everyone! I don't have any hands-on framing experience, so this feedback is very helpful. Thank you.

I am not sure what area of the country you are in, but if you are in Southern Pine/SPF area, I would try to get SPF to work if possible if you are worried about straight studs. SPF seems to be a bit straighter than Southern Pine, or so my framer says..

24" o.c. can make the siding wavy (so I hear).
2x6 SPF can do this all day long except maybe on the coast.
