13Ni Maraging Steel (400 grade and above) 1

Hi guys, I've been looking at some of the material studies and found grades of maraging steel of 3000 mpa and above tensile strength from the 70s. Apparently they are 13% Ni whereas most of the maraging steels today are 18%. Where are these steels today? Are there any suppliers? This stuff would be perfect for one of my projects but highest i can find are 350 grade of the 18% Ni kind

The lower Ni (and Co) higher strength maraging steels are not commonly used.
Their toughness and fatigue properties were less than attractive.
The 300 and 350 grades (I prefer the Co grades over the Ni ones) just about reach the peak of strength while still having a little usable ductility.
Use these alloys with caution.
There are some other high strength steels out there.
If you venture into any of these alloys (Maraging or not) they all need to be premium remelted material.
And Ultrasonic testing should be required.

That's fair, although high yield strength and elongation are the primary properties of my project (sporting good that doesn't need long term durability) so i was looking at the ultra high strength steels
