We will be doing some NDE LPI inspections on some Furnace tubes 16Cr-11Ni-2.5MoCb. We don't expect any repair but just in case we want to make sure we are covered with a WPS. As for code the client states Examination shall be required per ASME B31.3. With regards to the material, it looks to be P8 material. But it doesn't seem common like 16Cr-12Ni-2Mo. I'm not sure what the abbreviation (Cb) is as well at the end. Can anyone tell me typically what P number this is or how to find that out? Or what welding rod is typically used for this?

Thank you.

You’ll have to look in ASME section II, part A for that specific material and see if there is an associated P-number with it.

Cb is the old designation for Columbium, now known as Niobium (Nb).

The devil is in the details; she also wears prada.
