We have a client who is experiencing a high failure rate of analog channels on AB 1771-IL analog cards. Has anyone had the same experience, and maybe know a possible cause?

I have recently seen an IFE failure that is a cause for concern (due to the application). In this failure, the IFE stopped updating the processor. Attempts to download the configuration to try to "jump-start" the module failed. It was basically a dead stick. Critical points from this module were moved to another location. The module did recover and start communicating to the processor again, but months later.

The investigation could not reveal any cause (the module cannot be removed). My initial thoughts is age. The module resides on a remote rack so the BTR/BTW has to communicate through an ASB module, which could also be the cause of the problem.

I am not sure if this is a similar symptom to what you are experiencing.

I have also seen where grounding can be a problem - either poor grounding or ground loops.

Do you have more details on the symptoms?
