We have recently come across a building in which the client has asked us to do a structural evaluation. The floor system was constructed of built-up deep wood joists (two 2x7 joists one on top of each other) supported on the bottom flanges of steel beams. The building was constructed in 1933 and some steel members have the following markings:
British Steel
Frodingham Iron & Steel Co. Ltd. England
The physical dimensions of these members do not match any members produced in North America, nor any IPE/IPN section for which we have litterature on. Should you know of anybody whom could help us determine the properties and steel grades of these members, it would be greatly appreaciated.
Thanks!
