Hello,
Could somebody give me a summary of the functionality and applications for SW 2005's new feature, the design library. Thanks in advance.

I'm not able to do that at this time, but I will try to find someone else who has. thanks anyway.

Here is a quick one. SW 2005 now has a "task pane" on the right side of the window which can be activated by clicking the slide arrows. The task pane allows you to do different things (browse for files, acess design library, etc.) The design library is a collection of folders that contain design files such as palette features, forming tools, standard parts, toolbox items, 3d content central items. Think of it as the current feature pallete except you can add folders to the search path so it will display anything you like. Once you select a folder all the files have a preview and using the file is simply dragging and dropping into the graphics window. Works great for feature pallete stuff. Also works great for annotations and blocks in drawings. The task pane really makes finding files very easy. It won't take you long to love it and ask why it took so long to show up.

anyone noticed the slide pane looks pretty similar to the one in wildfire 2

I did notice that. I can say after demoing WildFire 2 for 30 days there is no way in hell I would leave SW for Pro-E. It's just not user friendly.

yep me too left sw for pro e and came back

well i was lucky theres an incentive ptc are running through their resellers in the uk where by you get government training money and basically they give you the seat for free then they pocket the money calling it training ,
whilst it is 5 days of training and having used pro e professionally up to wildfire ive got to say i actually prefer the older versions of pro 3001 etc

i find they have contorted the product rather than improve it whilst undeniably there are some features in pro i would love tohave in solidworks i found the producthard to getonwith

so backto sw it is for good i think
