22 Ga. B Deck Span

I have a customer who wants to use 22 ga B deck for an outdoor covered space roof. The deck will serve as the finished roofing and ceiling.
It will be 2 cont. spans of 9 ft.
Using Vulcraft Design Tools, I get that 22ga works fine in a 2-span condition.
Seems like a pretty long span for this deck. Am I missing something or am I just stuck back in the 33 ksi days?
The shear capacity is fine.

XR - I think you're right to pause. Max SDI construction span is 6'11" for that deck. So it may have trouble supporting the concentrated loads it'll see during construction.

Even with 7', 1-1/2 22Ga deck is bouncy to walk on if installing roofing. 9' might be stretching it.

Rather than think climate change and the corona virus as science, think of it as the wrath of God. Feel any better?

Looks like FM might have ann issue with it as well.
Not sure if SDI should apply as there will be no material staging. Anyhow, might add another beam line.

I'm going to suggest you may want to double check your uplift loading, typically for outdoor canopy deck, I would expect higher wind loading (open structure components and cladding with minimal trib area).

I would also recommend comparing the moment from their psf loading and a point load mid span, I suspect that just because it can support the psf loading it may not support a person walking on it.

Another consideration is water tightness, I'm not sure B-deck is water tight, especially at the lapped conditions.

As for SDI; constructions spans I believe mean you may need to shore the decking during installation.

Watch out for ponding and snow drifts. A little deflection in the deck could become amplified if it collects rain, snow, ice...etc.
