Dear Sirs,

What would be the diameter of 220 kV xlpe cable for a current rating of 183 amps to be kept in tunnel?

Regards,

For ampacity of cables in tunnels see
Power cables in tunnels by Birron M. Weedy University of Southampton England
Power Cables and Their Application, 3rd Edition by Lothar Heinhold/Reimer Stubbe (Editors) Part I chapter 18.5
In my opinion, DOHA CABLES fabricates Single Core Copper Conductor, XLPE insulated, Copper Wire Screen and HDPE Sheathed of 127 / 220 (245) kV according to IEC standards, starting from 400 sqr.mm [90.6 mm overall diameter]

400 sqr mm gives 22.56 mm overall diameter by cross section and diameter formula.

how do we calculate nominal overall diameter?
how do ventilation accomplished in tunnel cabling?

If the current it is actually 183 A, then no need for ventilation. From my experience the maximum temperature will be not more than 70 oC. In this case the ampacity will not be less than 400 A-for 400 sqr.mm copper. In order to calculate more accurate, the ampacity we need to know the tunnel details the number of cables type , size and current and a tunnel cross section.
A short-circuit calculation for 1 second duration I think it is necessary.
