I posted this question in the Power Generating facility forum, but I thought I'd also place it here as this seems to get far more traffic and I have recieved no response from the other forum.
I have been assigned a project for replacement of phase reversal switches at a pumped hydro facility. Our current set up uses 5 230 kv vertical air break switches on a single operator. The operator is a three position operator which moves approximately 75 degrees in either direction from neutral (all switches open). The operator may be locked in the neutral position.
Does any other pumped hydro facility use this 5 switch scheme?
Since we are looking to replace the units, does anyone know of a motor operator capable of three position operation?
These switches are operated hot but with no load on them several times a day. What type of airswitch is best suited for this operation? Vertical break?
Thanks in advance.

If it is broken, fix it. If it isn't broken, I'll soon fix that.
