A mate of mine converted a Porsche 911 to electric plug in. He got a 200kw motor and controller from a guy in California, ripped out the engine and fuel tank, installed about 500kg of batteries and presto..80 km range, 120km/h top speed, awesome acceleration.
He made it green by installing photovoltaic panels on the roof of his house and generating enough power back into the grid to equal the amount used to charge his batteries.
He has been driving it to work every day for 5 years now, with a reasonable degree of reliability.
