Dear All,

hope you can help me to clarify the confusion about the introduction of ISO 8015:1989.

Suppose that in my drawing title block there is not any statement regarding to this norm ( ISO 8015) and , as consequences, the use of independency principle introduced by this standard.
Suppose also that in my drawing title block however is stated : Tolerance not specified according to ISO 2768-mK
Consider now the content of the drawing as per attached picture. It is a simple pin with dimensional tolerance +/-0.05. Which is the tolerance error of the part for straighness of the axis ? 0.2 as per generic tolerance for ISO 2768-2 ?
My drawing still correct/compliant to ISO or it is mandatory to specify in the drawing ISO 8015 when I use Generic Geometrical tolerance as per 2768-2 standard?

Second question:

If not reference are stated to both refrence (ISO 8015 and ISO 2768) should the maximum error of form lie into the dimensional tolerance range?

Thank you in advance to whom can help me to clarify this confusion.

Filippo R.

If we are talking about new drawing, it may be a subject to ISO 8015-2011.

Said standard contains some interesting paragraphs:

5.1 Invocation principle
Once a portion of the ISO GPS system is invoked in a mechanical engineering product documentation, the
entire ISO GPS system is invoked, unless otherwise indicated on the documentation, e.g. by reference to a
relevant document.

That is: if you specify 2768-2, the whole shebang applies.

Per ISO 2768-mK straightness tolerance for your length range is 0.4

Another paragraph from ISO 8015-2011:

5.3 Definitive drawing principle
The drawing is definitive. All specifications shall be indicated on the drawing using GPS symbology (with or
without specification modifiers), associated default rules or special rules and references to related
documentation, e.g. regional, national or company standards. Consequently, requirements not specified on
the drawing cannot be enforced.

That is, if nothing is specified on the drawing, nothing implies.
