I'm in the plastic injection mold design business. Many if not most end customers would like to have their molds designed in solid works.
My burning question is can you folks design the whole mold with all it's components detailed in solid works only??
Not all mold builders make every component via CAD-CAM so a good, floor "oriented" 2D drawing is needed.
So far I can't produce what I'd call a good, working 2D drawing in SWX.
For one thing the dimensioning in SWX leaves a lot to be desired.
One customer that supplies a SWX solid part file also supplies a 2D part drawing that is created in AutoCad.
Do most mold designers use TWO programs? SWX PLUS a 2D such as AutoCad?
It would be nice to have to buy just one program such as SWX and be done with it.
In summation:
Can SWX do both?? Can it produce a GOOD working 2D drawing?
Thanks, BP
